I just got really excited one second ago because I just realized something. WE CAN RUN THE OPTION!! Noooooooooo one does this for obvious reasons to protect your qb, but now we can line White under center and run the option! Do you people have any idea what this will do to the game? Not only can we run the option Pat White just created the position called "the option"... Pat White is going to revolutionize offensive NFL football.

He can get 10 snaps under center a game and can run the normal offense or run the option from there.

Line him up in shotgun with Ronnie as the back! Are we going to pass? throw? run? ahhhh

Line him up at RB! Again what are we doing Defense?

Wide out? Why not? Lets run some screens and slants..

and i do i even need to mention the Wildcat? OOOHHHHH the possibilities! :woot::woot::woot:

I have already brought thsi up. Im waiting on our next dolphin coach. Paul Johnson. We will bring the triple option to the forefront of the NFL.

The option can work in the NFL but teams aren't dumb enough to give opponents free shots at the QB. White would have a career of 1 game if he ran the option in the NFL.

The option isn't going to work against the best football players in the world, who are much bigger, much stronger, and much faster than collegiate players. It's never really been used on an NFL level, even when QB's were tougher and less valuable (financially).

pat white seems to have awesome vision when i watched him, i dont think his arm is that bad either.. maybe he will be our version of doug flutie.. only faster

Then explain to me how a sweep works? or a pitch? It is the same except there is an option to pitch back too which makes it more plausable..

Are those the same players that let the Wildcat run all over them?

Yeah, the quarterback rolls out and has the "option" to either keep the ball or toss it to the back.

You do know what the wildcat is right?

It's a spread formation where the RB, in the QB position, takes a direct snap from the center and proceeds to run up the middle between the tackles, or to the outside or throws a little pass fake or end around in there sometimes to make it more effective.

It's also a formation that worked for us maybe 3-4 times a game.

So if you think the Dolphins are going to be the Navy Midshipmen next year and run option plays 60 times a game, you're wrong. NFL teams wouldn't risk the chance of a turn over, or the chance of getting their players KILLED by again, the best players in the world. You're not going to pitch the ball back to Ronnie Brown with players as DOMINATING as Ray Lewis on the field.

****, someone must've jumped onto my computer and typed up all that stuff. Never once did I say we're going to run the option 60 times a game. Do I think it'd work? Could be.

Let's keep in mind there was once a guy named Michael Vick who looked like a man playing with a bunch of little kids out there on Sundays. Now think back to those days and imagine if Vick had the ability to read a defense or the accuracy to get the ball down field to his receivers. WOOLAH! Meet Pat White.

well it was mentioned on the NFL network when he was drafted and a few times by others on this board and elsewhere since then.

I think there's little doubt they'll at least try it. I also think they'll have some early success against weaker teams. But like the wildcat in the second half of the year, it'll run out of steam fast. The option, frankly, isn't much one against baltimore Pitt, tenn etc.

No, Pat white in the short term is here to give the wildcat a new dimension. It was obvious that system was getting stale as the season wore on. I think even with Pat, it'll get stale again (defenses are just to smart and fast in this league), but it has a longer shelve life now and we'll see some highlight reel plays in the meantime.

In the long-term, he''l compete with henne. He is a much, much better passer than most people give him credit for. I think he'll prove top be a better passer than Vick or Vince Young and he's probably a much more dynamic open field runner than either.

If we didn't have so many needs, I'd like the pick more than I do. That said, it's a second rounder in a very, weak shallow draft. If your going to take a chance on an athletic phenom who can do wonderful things with the ball in his hands, this is it.
