Since people who actually seem to be happy about having Pat White in a 'Fins uni are few and far between... I'll start up the Pat White bandwagon.
I'm so friggin' tired of everyone on this board ripping the White pick... sure it was a little high perhaps, but I guarantee you he would have been gone by the end of the 2nd round. Not sure who all was watching which channel (ESPN or NFLN)... but 5 or 6 picks before we took him, Mayock was saying he wouldn't stay on the board for very long... So while people here may have thought it was high for our needs... we didn't take him much higher than he was valued. As far as athletic ability and what he can do with the ball in his hands, he was by far BPA on the board at that point.
Sure we needed help elsewhere... Sure we could have used a WR or OLB, but those are never 100% guarantees in the draft. People act like any OTHER pick would have been golden, when in fact, any other pick would have had the same chance to succeed as White. Say it with me now... with the draft you never know. good. I tell you what, if I was him and I stumbled out here to these boards... I'd be scratching my head because he hasn't even stepped into the locker-room yet and already the majority of the "fans" here seem to hate him.... But I've learned to take that with a grain of salt because those people always find something to hate about every draft no matter what.
Will White be on the field every down and be a huge contributor, only the FO knows that. Who knows... heck he could be a bust or he could be a superstar. He did some pretty amazing things in college in a spread offense that people frown on... but Steve Slaton sure seemed to transition pretty well last year. What I do know is that White will give 110% all the time just like he did throughout college... He is a leader and is willing to do just about anything for his team (that block video is wicked!)... and I don't know about you, but I love having people like that on our team. I also know that if we can find ways to get the ball into his hands, he'll be electric!
In closing, I'd just like to say that I had no problem doubting what Cam or Wanny were doing, they didn't have the resume and held little sway with me. However I do have a hard time jumping the gun and telling Tuna he doesn't know what he's doing. He'll have to prove me wrong before I'll discount his rings and history of turning programs around...
So I say Welcome to Miami Pat White! I am happy to have you here and can't wait to see what you can do!
Go Dolphins!
