So now that the season is just about half way through (Ya I know we got one more week but I’m not waiting!!) I just wanted to throw out some thoughts and see what Phins nation thinks.

So the next set of games..@ Den (very injured team), SEA (they stink) @ home, Oak (they stink too) @ MIA, that can put us at 6-4 and the Bills play the Jets and the Pats back to back and then the Pats play the Jets right after that...we could be in real good shape by then considering these next 3 weeks will guarantee losses to the teams in the division. (I cant believe that I’m this hopefully after last year…WOW what a turn around we have made…my thought is we go 7-9 or at best 8-8 but still miss the playoffs…see the Browns last year)

Coaching is one (if not the biggest) reason our team is where we are this year. I know that players are the one making plays, but in so many of the past years we have seen some players fail here and then do great once they get on another team. Do u think its just a big a$$ coincidence that ever frikin dolphin that signs with NE blows up that year? I doubt it. Belichick has me convinced that he sure is a HOF coach with the job he has done with the team after losing their HOF QB. Going 5 and 2, that’s not an easy task, but I digress and the Pats can kiss my u know what. A lot of credit should be given to the job this phins staff has done. Sporano and company have found ways to create opportunities for players to succeed. If they can keep coaching up some of these guys like they are now we may have a foundation in a team being built up in the DRAFT for once. It looks like Ginn, Jason Allen, Brown, Crowder, Merling, Langford, Carey, and Henne can all be great players for us (that’s 4 defensive starters and 4 offensive starters and most importantly they are offensive players at the skill positions and defensive starters in each aspect of the defense). Jason Allen had a stellar game last week against a very legit QB and Buffalo passing game. The guy is showing an upside that has been non-existent. Yes maybe im being premature but these guysa re showing up READY to play. In past years our players seem lost and confused out there. U think that’s not a credit to the coaching going on behind the scenes? (I hate to say this cuz the guy is a total douche and couldn’t coach, but Saban did have an eye for talent) Now I could keep going on and on about this coaching staff but I think u get the picture.

Another very underrated stat that has been lost in all of this hype and newfound excitement is how young of a team we really are. Take out Ferguson, Porter, and Pennington and we pretty much don’t have any other “old” players. This will be HUGE in trying to turn around our franchise. This is one of the many benefits of building through the draft and not free agency.

Other tid-bits:

  • I can’t think of n e player more deserving of DPOY than Porter. FACT!

  • Pennington is a great QB but he CANNOT be the guy counted on to win games. He simply doesn’t have that ability. He plays great for us and I’m very happy to have him (after the garbage I’ve seen since Danny Boy), but the guy doesn’t have the ability to take over and deliver like a top QB. And his QB rating has nothing to do with this so don’t tell me to look at it. There is no stat for this. This falls under that “intangibles” category. He reminds me a lot of Marc Bulger minus the arm.

  • Patrick Cobbs is a nice change of pace and I would mind him sharing the work with Ricky. Cobbs just seems more enthusiastic about the opportunities, but Ricky does give 100% every time so I guess either way, good stuff. Just make sure Ronnie gets the touches he RIGHTFULLY deserves.

  • Randy Starks is a huge asset to us and I hope he plays out his career here. The guy has been one of those under the radar kind of guys through his career and this year is no different. Outside of the Phin faithful no one really has n e idea about how well he is playing. Just watch him in one game and u will see how much he helps us out. He even has some good stats so far, but what is most important is his hustle and how hard he plays. He does a great job of menacing the QBs and just making their life difficult. If I remember correctly he hit Edwards on that INT. The guys is just a big part of this defense and if u cant see that then ur just a H A T E R!

  • Last but not least is the play of the offensive line. Earlier in the year I read and interview with Porter and he mentioned that if we could go to mid season in good shape the rest of the year could be even better based on what he had seen from the O-line. He felt that all they needed was some time to “gel” and he said once they do, they would be a very good bunch. Coming from a GREAT defensive end that’s great news. I also think working against that our D-Line, which is very good, has helped our O-Line tremendously and then some. Also considering all the praise that Jake Long has been getting from credible coaches (Belichick) and defensive players (Suggs) around the league I think its safe to say he’s a baller and has the potential of being a top 3 tackle in this league for many many years.

With all that said…LETS GO KICK SOME BRONCO ***!!!

Pennington cannot lose games either. You want an overrated POS like Romo who has butter fingers, or maybe Warner who can't hold on to the football. It does look sexy throwing the ball far, but isn't really that effective when it comes down to winning football games. Pennington moves the chains and doesn't turn the ball over. That is what a qb should do.

I distinctly said that "He plays great for us and I’m very happy to have him".

I never said I wanted Romo and for the record I do not think that Romo is even top 5 in the league...In no special order Petyon Manning, Eli Manning, Rothlisberger, Brees, and McNabb are all better than Romo. That's not even counting Brady.
