The pick is in, who do you take? Who does Grier take? Here's my guess with these players seemingly in consideration if they are at 13....

Will Johnson, CB (I think he goes before 13. If he falls, I don't see Grier passing)
Will Campbell, OT/OG (I also think he's gone)
James Pearce, DE/LB
Tyler Warren, TE (a man can dream!)
Kenneth Grant, DT
Walter Nolen, DT (what are the character issues?)
Derrick Harmon, DT
Mykel Williams, DE
Mike Green, DE
Shemar Stewart, DE (with trade down)
Kevin Banks, OT/OG (with trade down)
Jihaad Campbell, LB (not likely)
Grey Zabel, OT/OG (with trade down)
Malaki Starks, S (with trade down)

My pick....

1. Derrick Harmon DT, Oregon 6-4 313
Go with the strength of the draft and a big area of need. Start building that defensive line. This is a scouting report by Lance Zierlein, from nfl.com who comps him to DaQuan Jones.

Overview

Position-versatile building block that makes moving the football a much tougher task. Harmon is wide, long and naturally powerful at the point of attack. He can create traffic jams inside as a two-gapper or stunt and power his way into the backfield. He’s unlikely to be a primary sack man, but he can be part of a swarm unit that batters the pocket. He’s high-cut and tight-hipped, which limits his agility and reactive athleticism to finish. Harmon can play up and down the line in both odd and even fronts. He will bring an instant dose of stinginess and toughness to any defense he joins.

My guess on Grier? We're trading down and going with Zabel.

I would take DB Will Johnson if he is available. I feel like DB is a higher premium position than DT or OG and that it will be more difficult to address this position in rounds 2 and 3 than it will be to address DT and OG in those rounds.

If he is gone then I would look to trade down and take DT Harmon or Grant and grab our replacement for Calais.

What I think will happen is we stay at 13 and Grier takes Starks.

I have to know who is on the board but assuming Campbell/Johnson/Warren are gone and there is no trade back opportunity(my preference)then picking at #13 of the guys you listed I would go with Grant or Harmon.

The caveat is that there could be good DT value at #48 so going in a different direction at #13 would make sense.

And in the case of both Grant and Harmon I would much rather take either in the late teens to early 20's with an added Day 2 pick for moving back.I think either are light reaches at #13 while Will Johnson would not be.I would consider Zabel in the late teens/early 20's as well.

I could be tempted by Shemar Stewart as he would be a good pairing with Chop as a pair of edge guys long term.He may never be a big sack producer but he causes havoc and is a beast against the run.I would like to see Weaver coach him up and see what you get.

I am not taking a S in R1, the needs at DL/OL/CB are too big to do that and i like some Day2, early Day 3 Safeties.

If Campbell or Membou were to fall then I am going Ol without a second though but they almost certainly won't be there.

Will Johnson could make it to #13 and I would take him add work on DL/Ol on Day 2.

Yeah, my pick was with the assumption that Johnson will be gone. Johnson would be a heck of a pick. At that point, I'd probably look for a penetrating type DT in R2 over purely a run stopper.

Stewart is a gamble on greatness, but because he's so good against the run already at least you have that. Stewart paired with a run stopper at NT, is a nice option.

Mykel Williams is another DE, who I think fits perfectly.

Johnson was available in a recent mock simulation I did.

13. DB Will Johnson

48. DT Darius Alexander - He is a similar type of DT to Harmon and their combine measurables were very similar.

98. OT/OG Emory jones Jr. - Physical RT who will move to RG in the NFL. 6'5 315 with 34.25" arms. With Daniels at LG next to Paul our OL might be okay.

116. S Billy Bowman - Ballhawk FS with 11 INT's his last 3 years in college.

135. LB Danny Stutsman - I know LB isn't a huge need but I just have a good feeling about him and we could use a more physical LB.

150. RB Damien Martinez - We need a physical RB.

155. OT Hollin Pierce - With Armstead's retirement we need a backup swing OT.

224. WR Nick Nash - We should add a weapon for our offense.

231. DE/OLB Jah Joyner - We need better Edge depth and I think he has more upside than Kamara.

253. NT Nazir Stackhouse - Run stuffing NT to compete with Benito jones.

I usually mention Williams for the same reasons I bring up pairing Stewart with Chop.

But #13 is too early for him.

That's a heck of a draft. If Miami comes out close to that, I'd be thrilled. Also, would have playoff aspirations.

I like this draft up until Martinez why not take advantage of a deep DT class and instead of Martinez and Nash, Joyner etc take a combo of Caldwell, Elijiah Roberts, Peebles, Ingram Dawkins?
I think we need to come out of this draft with 3 DTs who have a shot of at least getting into our DL rotation,

I'd take Barron if Johnson is gone

A draft that plays out like this would have me stressing over that anchor NT in the middle of the defense for 3 whole days, but all’s well that ends well.
