It was in the second half when he was running toward the sideline about 3 to 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage. A defender would have prevented him from getting back to the line of scrimmage so he just tossed the ball at the sideline. It wasn't a big play in determining the outcome of the game, but it showed Henne's instincts and football intellect.

The play looked a little odd because I cannot remember how many times in that situation I have seen a QB just run out of bounds taking the 5 yard loss. It shows up as an incomplete pass in the stats but that doesn't do it justice. That play indicated to me that the game just makes sense to Henne. He was outside the tackle and behind the line of scrimmage. It is the QBs that do the little, common sense things that often go unnoticed by most fans that allow them to be great.

As Parcels likes to say "It isn't how many good plays you make it is how few bad ones." Henne shows maturity beyond his experience. That play told me he has that innate mental ability that the game just makes sense to him. All the great ones have it. Good job Henne! I am looking forward to many years of him leading the Dolphins to championships.

Nah, I mean it was a heads up play . . . but far from his most impressive.

I think his most impressive was the play where he rolled out, dodged a rusher and threw it back in the middle to Bess. That was impressive as hell. Henne has a CANNON. Can we put this kid with having one of the 5 livest arms in the league?

Agreed. I have seen nothing but constant and consistant improvement from him since he started. We should also be thankful for our o-line. They take alot of the stress off of Henne. He gets so much time in the pocket and that gives him enough time to make great SMART plays. Having an amazing running game also takes alot of preasure away.

Exactly my point. Most fans don't notice or think it was a big deal. Yet, that is the type of play that separates a good QB because of his physical abilities with a "great" QB who can make the big play but doesn't make the boneheaded play that costs his team yardage and ultimately games. Manning has it, Brady has it, Marino had it, and Henne does too.

I certainly agree that Henne has all the physical tools as well. But many QBs have those. Culpepper had that type of physical skills that allowed him to make those kinds of plays, but then he would do the little stupid plays that would cost his team from winning games. Heck, Russell can make that play but then look at how many bad plays he makes that cost his team the game.

I don't know if it was the best play but it definitely impressed me. I was sitting on the couch and just thought to myself "That is a heads up veteran play. Rookies and second year starters don't normally make that play". It is something that can't be coached and something we haven't seen from a QB (CP excluded) in Miami for a long time. I look forward to watching Henne progress into an great NFL QB.

I also saw him lobing the ball a bit more. Like that incomplete pass to RW in the endzone. That was a great throw. If Ricky was a bit taller he would have been able to get his other foot down.

I don't know how many times I have seen 10 year veterans run out of bounds on that play taking the loss.
