What do you think about....

us signing Antwan Randle-El? If he's not asking us to break the bank, this makes a lot of sense. He's fast, versatile (WR, PR/KR, Emergency QB), fills a need for us, and has played on an offense that is like the one Mularkey ran. I know Saban has said we're not going to change the offense much but I'm sure that Mularkey will bring his own personal touch to the offense. I really like how he plays. He's very exciting.

He impresses me sometimes with the razzel-dazzel like the play in the superbowl or on special teams, but as a receiver, I too would prefer a bigger more physical receiver. I think that would be a better compliment to the already short 5'11 Chris Chambers.

I think Pitts will take a shot at re-signing him first. At any rate, why are people so enthralled with upgrading the WR position ?? With our obvious lack of talent at QB, OL, CB, S and aging LB corp, unsure DT spots...why worry about an area that we are adequate at ?? Welker, while not the best option for a #3 WR filled in admirally. I would love to see an upgrade there, but spend the big bucks on the other, more important spots....I'd be real dissapointed if we sign Randle-El and then couldn't get a Hutch or Bentley or Grady Jackson to fill Truck Traylor's spot ???

I understand with you and agree. That is why I said if it doesn't break the bank. I don't want to overpay but we are in the market for a WR. I can guarantee you that if we sign say someone like Givens, we are going to overpay for his services.

If you drafted Michael Robinson in the 4th round it would be cheaper

You're thinking makes sense but is he going to contribute as a WR this year if we draft him. Remember, it took Randle-El sometime to adjust.

damn sorry about that i realized i posted in the wrong forum... mods please move to correct forum... thanks...

You would have to utilize him on special teams first I believe helping on punt and kick returns and slowly transform him into a WR

Is he realy that much of an upgrade over Booker? Remeber Booker was a high school qb as well and should be able to run some of those gadget plays.

I think he is a different kind of receiver than Booker. I remember hearing somewhere where an NFL coach said that you need to have different types of WR's (possession, speed demons, big-play, etc.) in order to have a balanced and effective receiving corps. A Randle-EL type receiver would provide us with that explosive, shifty reciever that we don't have (even though I like Welker, he isn't that).

he would be a nice pickup, very versatile. I cant remember where but I know i read where he would like to play for Mularkey again as he was the co-ordinator in Pittsbrugh when they brought in Randle-El and set up all the gadget plays he is so good with. Would be an excellent signing in my opinion.

we won't get him, he will either remain a Steeler or become a Pat and I hope he remains a Steeler for our sake
