People have opinions. We're all allowed to, it's our right and it's why Finheaven exists. People also have the right to complain, bicker, cheer, talk ****, celebrate, whatever. That's all fine. When the team loses, this place is on suicide alert. Fire the GM, Sparano sucks, Ginn and Ronnie are busts. When the team wins, it's Super Bowl time, or it's a 7 game winning streak coming up, or we were supposed to win by 912 points.
People are PO'd that the Dolphins didn't win by 50 yesterday. It's actually a good thing then that the folks who felt this way have put last year out of their minds b/c if they didn't, then they should be more realistic and realize the Dolphins are still a good young team finding their way. To have the confidence that they will/should win by 50 points is good for your mind, body and soul. But how often does it actually happen? Ok, the Jets beat the Rams 47-3. Those scores are more reminiscent of college, not the NFL. The Dolphins travel to St. Louis in a few weeks, can you guess what the score will be? I imagine it will be close, hell the Rams might even win. Why? Are the Jets that much better? Do the Dolphins really stink? No, because that's what happens in the NFL. Things that are rare occur (47-3) but close games are more likely. Vikings won by a missed Crosby FG, Giants win by 6, Colts win by 4, Chargers win on a failed 2 pt Chiefs conversion, Broncos win by 4. Close games happen, there's parity in the league. The Seahawks came in only 2 games back of the Dolphins, the teams aren't that different.
I get it. I've been here for four years, it's part of the territory. This wouldn't be a message board without the highs and lows of being fans. But, that doesn't mean we still can't be rational. Look at what's being said.
I've heard that Pennington sucks. Why has he sucked? He threw a pick 6? Look at how many Favre has thrown and the Jets are 6-3. The point? Pick 6's happen (just ask A.J. Feeley). So because Pennington didn't have a 130 QB, he stinks. Do you realize that if Pennington performed how some want him to perform, that he'd be the best QB ever? INTs happen, sacks happen, fumbles happen. DEFENSE happens
Brandon Fields sucks, cut him. Really? A 46 yd per punt average sucks? Especially on the last punt where it pinned Seattle to their 26 yd line? Cut him, really? Guess what, punters sometimes shank their punts. Sometimes they kick the ball 80 yards. That's football.
Ronnie Brown dances around too much, start Ricky and trade Ronnie Brown. Nevermind Ronnie's 9 TDs, it isn't like he deserves those. He's a 1st round No.2 pick, he should be getting 125 yds a game right?
Offensive line sucks. Satele sucks, might be cut in the offseason. The O-Line doesn't push the D-Line 50 yards down field. The Dolphins don't average 150 yds a game so therefore they aren't that good. How many teams constantly get pushes? Strong run defense happens, maybe not all year but at spurts.
Crowder sucks, the tackles he racks up are b/c he gets beat a lot. I've heard NYJunc talk about Zach Thomas in the same way. Andre Goodman sucks. Will Allen can't catch. David Martin sucks. Akin Ayodele and Matt Roth both suck.
In all honesty guys, if the guys mentioned performed to the standard that you put on them, the Dolphins would go to the Super Bowl every year. It's like some don't understand that sacks don't always happen. Sometimes sacks happen against the Dolphins. Same with INTs, fumbles, bad QB ratings, 2.3 yds per carry, a shanked punt or two, penalties, holding, clipping, etc.
No team is perfect and if they were, they'd be undefeated. In the history of the league, how many times has a team been perfect and gone undefeated?
There's only been one. The 1972 Dolphins weren't perfect. Hell, the knock I've heard on them is that they didn't beat anybody really good. So what else were they supposed to do then? You play your schedule, you either win or lose.
How many times has a team been perfect and never lost? There's only been ONE
