at the post-draft press conference. "How far would (1st-round LSU talent) Claude Wroten (at a need position) had to have fallen before you drafted him?"

THAT is how Ricky has hurt this team. Saban can't risk drug issues cause Ricky's taken more love than it's reasonable to give such characters ALREADY. It would have brought more negative Ricky-talk press whereas otherwise it would have been regarded as a justified 3rd round steal with the perception being Saban could fix his old recruit.

I like Saban and hope Ricky plays in '07 and does well. This isn't about that. Ricky owes the Dolphins more than money. Somehow I'm guessing he realizes it and will try to make things right by coming back next year and tearing the league a new one, again.

Wroten wasnt even available when we picked in the 3rd...

Who knows... we might have drafted him if he was still on the board...

Im just saying I'm glad we did not go after the guy. I'm sure if we wanted him we would trade for him.

I was responding to the original post...

However, I dont think we would have traded up even if we were high on him... we really didnt have any ammo...

Not being available when WE picked 3rd isn't relevant to the issue. "Who knows" is correct, that's why I'm speculating he wasn't on Saban's draft board.

But I'm saying... I dont think the Ricky thing effected our decision on Wroten at all... and there is no sign that it did...

Ok, so we finally know how we disagree as I think the "Ricky thing" DOES affect how the Dolphins would consider such a draft prospect.

Is this the same guy that was pulled over by the cops and had a couple of pounds of marijuana on the front seat and several thousand dollars in cash as well???

That guy is dealing drugs. Big difference between Ricky who used to smoke joints and being a drug dealer.

As long as we have judgemental fans, Ricky's jock will never be vacated.

Drop the e einstein. It's about judging public perception and protecting the organizations image, not Ricky.

Speaking of Einstein...he was a huge admirer of Gandhi, and Gandhi wouldn't hold a grudge on Ricky like many of our fans do. Obviously you consider Einstein a smart man, so thanks for helping justify my point. Next.....

one of their free agent signings (mcneil i believe) has had trouble and it was not a concern to sign him. i think the ricky thing meant little in their draft decision, a 3rd wide receiver was a bigger need than a DT
