This is completely subjective.
EDIT: But with good coaching we should be getting better through out the season compared to the first game

Offense:
Oline - better
RB's - better
QB's - worse/same
WR's - same

Defense
D Line - Same/better
LB's - Same/worse
Secondary - Same, I don't think they could play much worse.

This is the test of coaching. I am not anti-Saban by any chance. I will give him 3-4 years, but this team needs to make progress on all fronts before the season closes.

OLine - Much Better
QB - Worse
RB - Much Better
WR - Marginally Better (inclusion of Welker and Boston)

D-Line - Better
LB - Same
Secondary- Worse

That's if you are comparing to last year and not the first game of the season.

Good point, but I was more comparing to the beggining of the season.

We are getting better at every position other than QB. I would add WR but due to the horrendous play at QB I will hold my evaluation until someone else is brought in to throw the pigskin.

Compared to last year:

O-Line - much better
QB - same
RB - much better
WR - same/or maybe better due to Welker
D-Line - Better
LB - Same as always... steady
Secondary- Worse

I'd say the samething only that maybe QB is getting worse and secondary much worse due to injuries.

If you compare it to last year then we are better everywhere, even QB. If you compare it to the first game this year then QB is worse, wr, dl, lb the same. Everywhere else better.

What's interesting is how Saban has been basically saying that he's reluctant to make a QB change because other people who are not doing their jobs are affecting the QB, not the other way around.

I don't buy that. We have improved at every position but QB (and by virtue of that, WR) since the start of this year, forget last year, and Gus is going to be pretty hard for Saban to defend here pretty soon. (And this guy already knew the system?)

No more was that obvious than today. What we saw vs. Denver was the exception, not the rule. My only hope if we do stay with Gus is that he finds a way to relax... he's obviously pressing and it's affecting his play bigtime. It's making an average QB look less than average. He's got to find a way to make it fun. I think he might have trouble doing that vs. New England... we'll see.

You have to understand that not all of the players CAN get better. You can use the line that "great coaches manage their team based on the talent they have" and I believe that Saban IS doing that - the only point that can be argued is a lack of persistance with the running game.

The TEAM is clearly getting better, but there are some positions (QB, CB) that we just can't fix with what we have on the roster.

Saban knows where the problem areas are, hence the continual scouring of the waiver wire to better the 'bottom half' ...

He is about 40 % of where he wants to be with the roster and his style of play ... next year should be 70-80 % ... but good enough for the playoffs [all depending upon QB situation & our young CB development] ....

i also thought penalties should be mentioned, we have finally improved on the penalties over the last couple games. it's nice to see them below 10 per game again.

although i was quite disappointed with the 2 false starts by McIntosh(i believe), both within about 5 minutes of each other, in the 3rd quarter.

Offense:
Oline - Better
RB's - Much Better
QB's - Worse
WR's - Worse (except Welker)

Defense:
D Line - Same
LB's - Worse (except Crowder)
Secondary - Same

I have my questions as to whether or not Miami is improving as a team. The Nick Saban way of playing football is getting better developed each week. It may not reflect in the standings, but it is happening.

The players are understanding the system better, but that is not changing their performances on a regular basis. What does that mean? It means you have the wrong players, and the wrong chemistry to win football games.

I'm thinking Miami has too many chiefs and not enough indians on defense. On offense, they have a lackadaisical leader in Gus Frerotte who tries to manage an immature group of individuals who want success.

Change the QB on offense and get your young guys in more on defense. Let's try those changes for a few weeks and see what happens.
