Many people would like to criticize Ronnie Brown for not putting up the big numbers and expect him, because he was the #2 pick, to be a 100-yard rusher every week. I don't think they understand the value of Ronnie Brown.

Although Ronnie is quite capable of big rushing games and I'm sure we'll some from him this year and beyond, Ronnie is one of those players that will do so many things to help his team win, but not necessarily show up in the stats. He will make key blocks, grab throws and turn them into first downs and pick up the tough yards that move the chains and lead to scores.

The bottom line is that when people look at the stats at the end of the year and see where Cadillac, or another player has more rushing yards, for instance, it doesn't truly reflect the complete value of the player. Ronnie may not always dominate statistically, but he will have complete games and do more to contribute to a total team effort that ultimately wins ball games. Ronnie is a very VALUABLE player who does whatever it takes to win. In my mind, that is more important than stats.

Another thing that is beyond stats is respect. Look at how many Broncos were on the LOS, it's because they knew how much talent Ronnie Brown has and what he is capable of. Him being out there helped us win regardless of stats.

We all understand what you are saying, but the bottom line is you dont draft a #2 overall pick rb for his ancillary talents or intangibles. Catching and blocking is fine, but he must produce with rushing yards and tds to get the pressure off of the passing game. Its way too early to have this discussion though, I think he'll be fine...

He Picked Up Several Blitz's That Gave Gus The Time To Throw The Ball.
Since They Where Stacking The Line, It Opened Up The Passing Game.

You draft a guy #2 to win games, period. Ronnie is the sort of guy who will not always have the impressive stats, but will help his team win games. That's value to me.

Ronnie is very talented but they stacked the line mainly because there not scared of gus.

he wasnt a primary reason for winning the game though man, open up your eyes. We all love the fins and want to talk up our hot rookie, but even a basic list of most important factors from sunday would go something like this:
DEFENSE (led by Taylor)
Booker and Chambers (big running play and catch that combined led to 10 points)
Frerrote (solid overall game, 2 tds, managed game well)
Welker
The o-line and running game.

All parts are needed to be successful, dont get me wrong, but i'd put it in that order as to who most contributed on sunday. Ronnie brown will probably be a stud, but even if you take out the run for -10, its still like 3.2 yards per carry. Not so impressive. Just one game though man. Lets see how he handles the road and the Jets. They had big holes last week for the priest and LJ, but their Lbs are solid. We'll see. Go fins.

Ronnie would have got 100 yds on another team if he would have played the preseason like Cadi did.

Ronnie is a good receiver, blocker and rusher. He contributed sunday, but was average at best. I just cant wait to see how we do against the jets.

He's been signed for less than a month. Just because he's the #2 pick in the draft, it doesn't mean he's immune to needing time to get adjusted to the speed of the NFL. It also doesn't help that the Bronco's #1 goal was to stop our run game. They didn't respect our passing game, and it showed. In the 2nd half they adjusted to the pass, and oddly enough Ronnie improved.

People forget that we played against a very good D, and assumed that Ronnie should have run for 100 yards. Caddy had the benefit of running against a soft Vikes D.

I never made a comparison to caddy, and will not compare a vikes to the broncos, although I think the vikes are better than they looked on d. All I said is 3.2 yards per carry wont do it. We know about the run-stacking etc. I just dont want people to say the real value is his blocking and pass catching. NO. THAT ADDS TO IT. His value is a franchise back that will some day rush for 1400+ yards like its nothing. that's all. You don't draft a guy #2 overall just to do the little things was my point, and it is very clear and logical.

Wait till Ricky comes back, it's 3rd and 15, and Ronnie and Ricky are in the backfield, Ronnie splits out into the slot and catches a 35-yard pass with a linebacker running 5 yards behind him. THEN we'll see the real value of Ronnie Brown. And he'll be one of the only RBs in the league who's capable of doing it.
