Is because he is actually a solid quarterback, if not underrated like hell. Have any of you seen him play? Last year in the preseason, i was watching the 3rd quarter of the Chargers preseason game on espn. And the chargers were on offense. I was watching some quarterback who somehow amazed me. Cleo Lemon was the quarterback, and let me tell you he is damn well impressive. He was playing with some crap lineman, and each time some linebacker or d line man came into the pocket or near him, with EASE he was moving away from the defenders like michael vick does. Then did i see him run to the left and fire a perfect pass across the field to a reciever on the right sideline. After more possesions he was making precision passes with extremely nice pocket movement. I thought holy **** that man is good. So, I went into madden and traded gus for him and now hes my qb year 4 with 13,042 pass yards 120 touchdowns and 17 picks. Thats not the point, but this kid is the real deal if he gets the chance.

Thanks for the insight....Maybe we can run across a link with some Cleo preseason action.

yea i cant find anything though

I can't wait to see this guy play. It's a win-win situation. If he turns out to be something, we may be able trade him for a pick higher than the sixth we gave up. If not, he's still worth being on the team in place of AJ "Touchy" Feeley.

I hope he is that good, but I do have doubts because all the positive stuff seems to stem from ONE preseason game. And wasn't it...

1) Cleo playing in the third quarter of a preseason game when starters are long gone?
2) vs. San Francisco (gulp) of all defenses - and their backup defense at that?

Meanwhile, this guy's legend just continues to grow by leaps and bounds off of a third quarter backup role in a preseason game. Outside of that, no one's seen him or can comment on what he's really got. Now it's like he's in a witness relocation program or something - nobody's seen him at all.

So again, I hope he's all that for our sake. It'd be nice to get something positive out of that Feeley disaster, but I'm really skeptical at this point.

Exactly....

Flavor of the month.

Just follows the trend of the typical fan grabbing at air.

Good post.He could turn out to be Tom Brady after a great exhibition season or he could just as likely to turn out to be a Ray Lucas. .We dont know enough about him.

I think in between, definetly not like Ray Lucas.

In the 2005 preseason, Lemon completed 34 of 49 passes for 369 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions for a passer rating of 111.7.

Hopefully Saben will put him in for some extended action this pre-season and we can see if we have a solid back up. Personally I am not ready to even begin to envision him as a starter in any form.

So why are you bringing in Harrington if Cleo is solid or underrated like hell?

Well I guess you can be a 'the glass is half empty" kind of guy, or a "the glass is half full" sort. However I feel you have to look at a few other items before you can get a good read.

First off it wasn't just one preseason game. He played vs GB preseason wk 1 and went 6-11 78 yds no picks, wk two vs Rams 2-5 10 yds no picks, wk 3 Minn 14-19 136 yds 1 TD NO PICKS !!!! and wk 4 SF 12-14 145yds 2 tds NO PICKS !!!!!!! ( and thew the winning TD with 12 sec left)

Now you might want to know why he was playing 3rd string if he was so good?? He was playing behind Brees and Rivers and if they didn't play Rivers he would have no chance of getting trade value....or value for them for that matter. He could have been Bart Star and he would have had to play 3rd because of the politics involved. I can't say for sure he is an all star but I can say he has made the most out of every chance he has gotten so far. His stats were ten times better than Rivers and there are some Charger fans around who would rather have Cleo starting this year than Philip.

There are those on this board who wanted to give baby Vick a chance to get some playing time, and you have to admit this guy has twice the upside and three times the experience of Vick. He has had a year to learn the PB and has done nothing to prove he is not another Matt Schaub type.

All I am saying is I am quietly optimistic that he can turn into a player, if not a starter then a solid backup. I guess time will tell. One thing is for sure we are a lot better off at QB now then we were a few years ago. I would rather see him on our roster than AJ Feeley.
