ok look at 1:22 of this clip. This guy has a lot more intangibes than I've seen with Brady Quinn. I have seen Jamarcus play and flick his wrist and throw a bomb but look what Beck does... very similiar. This guy makes smart throws only to where the receiver can catch it. He can take a hit al la brady but he's able to follow thru. I think we might hve really gotten a steal here.

I too was schocked by passing on brady but after everything that i have seen read and watched we have gotten a very good quarterback that has maturity as well as football knowledge. The big comparission would be to drewBrees except for better work ethic coming out and a bit older. I think we have a quarterback that is going to surprise quite a few people and from what i've seen of Teddy Ginn.... I think we have the capability to be very leathal on offene and aggressive enought to hang and then knock out anyone. I would say we worst case win 9 this year and perhaps surprise like NO did last year

Ya know I wanted Quinn at first too, but after I did my homework on Beck..I'm really starting to like this guy. I'm excited about having him on the team. Mark my words, all the whiners out there will jump on the banwagon if Beck turns out to be the QB all of us have been hoping for...and if he doesn't then all the whiners will continue to do what they do best...whine! I mean I don't everyone's problem. Cam and Mueller know what they are doing...so let them do it. I think overall we had a really good draft. We got our QB, some OL help, and speed.

What is that song?

Nice video, got me excited!! Thanks.

The song is called "All Kinds of Time," by the Fountains of Wayne. I looked it up. :D

I bought the album. I don't know if we have found a QB, but I found some music to add to the Ipod.

Miami Dolphins

We all had it wrong here. Just when I got through writing Brady Quinn's name next to Miami, they took Ted Ginn Jr.! They kept this one quiet, maybe too quiet. Sometimes it is a good idea to let the fans know there are some other options when you pick, but the danger in doing that at the ninth pick, is you might tip other teams on who you are interested in. Now to Ginn. He's the second-fastest player I have ever scouted -- the fastest being Darrell Green, who was the fastest player in my 30 years in the NFL.

I remember going to Ohio State to scout Santonio Holmes -- who can run pretty fast -- and just watch Ginn run right by him. Some people feel Ginn will have trouble getting off the press and running routes. I don't believe that. He has foot quickness and the change-of-direction ability to do that. In fact, if you want to press him, good luck -- because if you miss him at the line of scrimmage, you might as well send the PAT defense on because you will not catch him. There are a couple of things that bother me about him -- his pure hands and size. As for size, there are guys like Ginn who have been great pros: Marvin Harrison and Steve Smith. Neither of these guys made a living in college going over the middle. This is a pick that is getting criticized by many, but you won't hear defensive coordinators who have to defense Ginn criticize him. He is also can impact the game as a return man.

John Beck is an accurate QB who is smart and has great intangibles. Who does that sound like? Drew Brees, except Beck has better work habits coming out of college. This is a guy a lot of teams liked and wanted. The next couple of picks should add some much-needed characteristics to the team: RB Lorenzo Booker for his speed; G Samson Stele for toughness and Paul Solicit for size at the NT position. This team needed to add speed to their offense and they did with Ginn and Booker. They also needed a QB to develop and they got him in John Beck. I will bet Randy Mueller is a LOT smarter at this football thing than the people booing him.

Check out these radio interviews. John Beck is raring to go. He sounds like he's a big student of the game. It sounds like he has really been working hard on improving his game over the years ... all the physical aspects and the mental aspects.

Every time I read a QB thread. Someone says " we need a new QB not someones leftovers" Well here he is guys. Let start him now. There is only 1 way to get experience.

Oh Great, now we are taking QB advice from the Texans! This is the same bunch of clowns who passed over Vince Young!

It is a big step going from BYU to the NFL. I wouldn't go naming him the starter just yet. Lets see how he does in training camp and preseason but don't expect him to start day one. You need just the right QB and just the right situation for them to be successful starting right away or you can end up setting them back rather than helping them progress.

did you see the other clip where he throws it 70 yards?

the thing i liked most in that video was his quick release. with that speed of that release (the poor video quality didn't help) it was sometimes hard to tell when the ball left his hand. being able to get rid of the ball quickly is huge in the NFL. he seems to have some athleticism as well.

this is a good, solid pick if he starts in his second season. we can't wait too long to get him in there with his advanced age.

I think we'll be alright with Beck. I don't think he's our Day 1 starter but he should deffinetly be ready next season. I still think that Trent Green is going to be our QB this year. I'm not sure whether I like it or not, but that's an upgrade over Joey.
So let's just wait and hope that John Beck is our franchise QB. We need one bad.....

Man, sweet f*ing video! He doesn't even throw it it's so fast. Like Marino speed, and the ball goes on a rope, accurately, 50+ yards!? He can scramble and maintain accuracy? He's tough and smart and accurate? Wow, I'm stoked.

I can see why Mueller + Cam were so secretive about this guy.

And Ginn? Well, I just hope he is what others (some) think. I do find it interesting that a ton of media experts say we picked Ginn too high, but then NFL Network says Houston was going to pick him at #10. lol, GO Mueller!

I like the direction we are going in, i almost pooped when we didn't take quinn, but i trust our FO, i like this a lot now!

Awesome video....some great throws in all types of situations. There is only one thinig that worries me in watching this though. While I really love the way he dances around to give his receivers time, I hope that the coaching staff can get him to get rid of the ball and not do too much dancing. Some of those shots he took were pretty big, and those were 2nd tier college defenders...he gets drilled by some of the NFLs best, he might not wake up for a week or so

Great vid!! Ya Know, a lot of BYU fans became instant Dolphins fans on Saturday!! They LOVE this guy!! I think I'm going to also!!

Overall the teams he played werent the upper echelon of the league. I'm not upset with picking him at all over Quinn, I was never a huge Quinn fan. I'm simply saying that what jumped out to me in the video was that some of the hits he took were pretty vicious, and the hits are only gonna come harder and quicker in the NFL so he needs to be schooled on protecting himself.
