is the way in which they are adding players more than the players themselves. When I read that Grigsby and Perry were visiting that further defined the fact that Parcells is having to literally rebuild every aspect of the team. With the exception of Pace, they have been restrained in terms of the big contracts, yet are signing guys that as a whole will make this team much better (in fundamentals and attitude). This was reflected in New England's attitude and it is becoming obvious as to how Parcells is going to do it. And we should already know this because he really hasnt changed. The Dolphin's poor use of free agency and the draft is the perhaps the reason we may be blinded to his intents.

Yes, Parcells is rebuilding, using the cap wisely to sign lots of solid players, with upside, not aging big money guys, but, that's what was expected of him isn't it?
A few high priced individuals don't make up a team, and don't fill all our holes.
I like what Tuna & Co. are doing so far.
Smiley is my favorite pick up. Tons of upside and has done well already. And we didn't have to gice him a huge contract, but I am betting he will play worthy of one.

Also interesting to note Perry has returned kicks in the past. Im not saying pull Teddy from those duties, Im just saying, if the team wants him to concentrate on being our #1 WR, they just may think about it down the line, and beyond Booker, we really didnt have any decent options. Just a thought.

and you disagree? I love what hes doing otssing out the scrap wood and using whatever good pieces he can find till the delivery truck arrives with the prime wood to build the new house from!

Is because everyone knows Bill Parcells is calling the shots.

I like what the team has done so far... and I think we're on the right path. But lets be honest: Parcells has a track record (a good one) and he's going to get the benefit of doubt - from media, from fans, from everyone.

You think fans and local media wouldn't have strung Cameron/Mueller up by the neck from the statue of Dan Marino at TSFKA-JRS, if they cut Zach Thomas? :)

Why not put Booker back there to return punts. I think his quickness and agility could really benefit our return game. That one-cut and go mentality is something that is needed to return punts, and it's something that Booker has. Just a little thought I had...

Oops. I posted this one before I was done.

Back to the original topic:
I think BP and Co. are doing a good job at rebuilding our team. Not signing high-priced free agents saved us a lot of cap room, which will in return allow us to sign our draft picks with money to spare.

Oh yes he can, but what is important is that he get it right most of the time..

parcells can do no wrong.

And that is what I am looking for. The drafting of the Dolphins from 98 to 2004 was absolutely incompetent on a consistent basis. Most teams will draft badly some, but Miami was consistently incompetent. I would hope we can expect more from Bill.

Looking at all the cuts, and the new FA signings what I see is the Dolphins managment building a solid foundation of a team. They're not trying to get the high flying, high cost, high risk players. But the kind of player thats going to work hard, as a team, and solidify a new era of the Dolphins.
Everyone knows that a house is only as good as its foundation.

Yea, the only problem with that is that booker cant seem to field a punt... how many did he muff last preseason? 2? and a bunch more in training camp.

And when Taylor retires or is traded there will be no players

none of Wanny's players remain on the roster. that shows you something.

from the Johnson era either. We will be rid of that phase in personnel moves that either paid high (Taylor, Thomas, Surtain, Madison) or absolutely off the charts low (just about every other player). You know, there should be some form of punishment from the league for such incompetence.

I think Parcells is doing a pretty good job. You are not going to turn a 1-15 team into a playoff team overnight. I think we have done a decent job picking up FA's, without blowing up our salary cap by overpaying for any one player. I still think we need a lot of help with our d-backs, another quality QB, and we could use a decent TE. I think we will address these needs during the draft.

Grigsby IMO would be a VERY good pickup. He was a tackling machine in college, has versatility (he converted to fullback last year and won the starting job, but ended up with an injury. I watched the entire story on HBO of the chiefs training camp. Boomer would be another Larry Izzo, and the guys would love him here.

Goes back to a post i just had about Ray Lucas being a STUPID pickup that cost us a season because he didnt have a CLEARLY defined role as the BACKUP period- the guy thought he was the starter. Which is why McCown is a PERFECT BACKUP signing for us - young, experienced, athletic, decent results, CLEARLY DEFINED ROLE. Has the ability to be a starter, but its not in the cards without injuries (at which time perhaps he shows something) but no expectations. Thats why Lemon sucked for us (remember his comments??? couldn't wait to get rid of that idiot!!!

Not so sure about Perry, although he has decent ST tackle numbers, maybe he would be a good flyer? Parcells must have seen something. Love the Grigsby visit tho!!!
