ook one thing i noticed about ricky now that he is alot faster and doesn't seem to be as big. I think he likes how he doesn;t have to play as much and when ever he is on the field he can play better b/c he isn't as tired. Also when he walked off the field on saturday after the win he seemed to be happy b/c he knows he is back and playing great football again..

Yeah he seems to be faster but he was very fast before. I know some would think he's better now being lighter that is. But I think he'd be even better at the weight he was before. I think the defenders didn't like to tackle him, he was more of imposing figure and harder to take down. Plus being heavier he could take a pounding easier. It's alot different having a 200 pound defender hitting you when your say 200 pounds compared to 230 pounds. But than again the role that there using him right now he may just be better lighter. Either way he still an awesome RB. Top 3 in the league.

Why do people always say stuff like this? I'd rather have LT, Alexander, Tiki Barber, Larry Johnson (we'll see how it holds up), Edge.

Ricky of old was the best pure runner in the league no questions asked. However, he's not in that form yet...

I would rank it like this:

1. Ricky of 2002 (he was HOF type material that year)
2. Ricky of 2005 (quickness to the outside with the vision on the inside)
3. Ricky of 2003 (a lighter Ricky with out the power, but without the quickness either. All he had was his vision)

We had a pretty horrendous line in 2003 though.

Let's not forget in 2003 Ricky Williams wasn't helped by a mediocre offensive line which, while it played very well in 2002, was pretty mediocre and opened no lanes for running.

Maybe it's just me, but I think the heavier Ricky was faster than today's. Maybe it's just the fact that he hit the hole quicker, but I thought he looked faster in some of the runs (see TerryTate R & R video). He doesn't possess the strength that he once had, but he doesn't seem tired. They showed yesterday that his avg. ypc during the 4th quarter (this season) is over 5, maybe 6. It was an astounding number. I know that he has always been that way, but he does not have quite the power that he once had. He is still a very good runner. I only wish the O-line would help more often.

The performance of Ricky yesterday showed the one down side to a dual running back system. Rythm is everything to a rb and as Ricky showed yesterday and Ronnie against Carolina there are sacrifices. Overall it's hard to tell if there is a gain either way. It's nice to have a backup like Ricky when your goto guy is grounded but maybe the toughness gained through an entire season of continuous play is lost. Your best backs, and Ronnie and Ricky are of that caliber, get better as the season goes on. R&R will be challenged to produce at a high level when they are in the game because of the lack of continuous playing time. I read that Ricky felt he got stronger through the game yesterday because his confidence continued to grow. Man what a dilema, but I think two great backs that are healthy producing at 80% of their potential is better that one great back that is lost to injury!

i don't remember ricky running that fast before ... to me he is so quick he just flys past the defenders
