Goal: Build a winning organization

Develop Talent
The two best organization at developing talent over the last ten years are the Steelers and the Patriots. Developing people requires a quality coaching staff and a large one. The Patriots had the largest coaching staff before the Dolphins. Nick continually tries to improve his coaching staff (Capers and Mularkey). He focuses on developing staff just like the Patriots do. Note: coordinators keep leaving New England, but the coaching staff continues to perform.

This is why he never stops focusing on execution. Consistent execution is a key ingredient in developing talent. Also, it is how the Patriots keep winning eventhough they keep loosing players.

Build Through the Draft
Another post correctly pointed out a the draft pick differential between the Dolphins and the Patriots (47/61). If you devleop talent, then you can afford to move talented players for Draft picks. When you lack talent and do not develop it, you must trade for it. Sound familiar!!! Joey was aquired for two reasons: to provide an experience backup and to be developed for aquiring draft picks through trades. Cleo Lemon is another good potential for trading if we can develop him. The ideal trading scenario is that Joey continues to improve an plays well near the end of the season. Trade him for an improved draft pick (2nd or 3rd). Develop Cleo Lemon for trade the following year. Note: I am very sceptical that this will work.

Nobody said he didn't have a plan or that the one you outlined isn't the right way to do it. The question everyone has is - Is Saban's Plan Working? Regardless of the details it ain't working. Now is it because he needs more time. We shall see. If it's the coaches - that's on him because he hired them all. If it's the players - alot of that is on him because he has had 1 1/2 years to change players or re-coach them to his system. Will it take longer - yes but should we be seeing improvement - I would hope.

At this point something isn't working - Is it his plan? That is the safe bet right now! Other teams have turned it around in the first year of their new headcoach. We are in year 2 and look as bad if not worse than when he took over.

at this point, no one cares about nick's plan.

Please do not speak for me unless you know what I care about and don't care about.

Its difficult to turn around a team that had few playmakers and the only good players are 32 years old and older. Give him time

Every coach tries to develop talent and build through the draft.

I still have a question nobody seems to truthfully answer. What has Saban done as an NFL head coach to deserve the faith and respect he is receiving from many on these threads? Jimmy Johnson came here with a few super bowl rings to his credit,we gave him time and it didnt work out. Dave Wannstedt came here with bad reviews as a head coach so fans here called for his head befor he even got off the plane in Miami. Saban was a coach in the NFL but never a head coach. He was a successful college coach but that doesnt mean a thing. Successful college coaches must leave their credits at the door when entering the NFL as a head coach.Right now Saban deserves to be questioned, doubted, bashed, and a lot more. He does not deserve my praise because he`s done nothing as a head coach in this league. In my opinion he starts at the bottom as far as respect goes and if he improves so will his ratings as the coach of the Dolphins. But to hear people say "he`s a great NFL coach" is not only an incorrect statement but highly inaccurate as well.I`m not making this up,numbers dont lie.
For those of you who insist on latching on to the bandwagon for all you`re worth, have fun and enjoy yourself. Until further notice I will continue to proceed with caution.Pessimist? No,just someone who knows better.

Because as a man i respect his character and how he conducts himself as the coach of this team,,,he has'nt had enough time for anybody to bash him or crown him,,but if you watch him and listen to him thats how you judge a man,i would say 22 games exp in this league is not enough time for you to bash, just like 4 games is'nt enough to judge daunte

RGF, nobody on this thread has said that Nick Saban is a great coach. You're absolutely right, he hasn't done anything yet to prove he is a great coach. Most great coaches don't coach with greatness in their first year and a half. Saban hasn't proven to me that he is a great coach, nor has he proven that he's a bad coach. 1 bad season does not make a bad coach. Even the greatest coaches have bad seasons. While I'm sure most of you will say that this will be the worst season in Dolphins history, that still does not mean Saban is a bad coach, at this point. It's too early to tell either way. Am I dissapointed that we're losing, yes:boohoo: , but I'm not going to start saying that Nick is the worst coach ever just because we are losing. This franchise has been on a downhill slide ever since Jimmy Johnson took over, and anybody who expects Saban (or any other coach) to turn this around in 1-2 years is crazy. I believe the verdict is still out on whether Saban will be a good or bad NFL coach. I want to see how he handles this offseason, and how we start next season to make my decision. He is light years away from being called a "great" NFL head coach though.
As for the plan, I hope it works.....but again, only time will tell. This plan takes more than 1-2 years to show dividends.

I respect your opinion. But, I wasnt questioning Sabans character I was questioning his NFL coaching ability thus far.So far he does not deserve the praise he is getting. If its too early to bash Saban, why was Wannstedt bashed from day one regardless of their respective track records?

and i yours,as a fan or an owner thats what we have to go by,is our instinct in judging his character and how that translates to our organization, its a gamble hiring a coach that has no nfl exp. so character, confidence, conviction, organizational skills and philosophiy is all we have to go by.
I believe, in my acessment saban has these qualities and he will eventually rise because of these qualities, also it does'nt hurt that he took a university to the pinnacle of college football
