Would be the shocker of Darren McFadden RB Arkansas. Now don't think I'm necessarily more of a D-Mac fan than either of the Longs, Gholston, or Dorsey. I'm just convinced that we want to trade out of the 1st spot and will not be able to simply because no one believes we will pick McFadden. If we make this move, the phone will begin ringing immediately and holding him hostage could proove to pay big dividends from the likes of the Cowboys as well as probably two or three other teams. I can't see how we get stuck with him, but if we did, would it be all that bad? With our next few picks we could grab OT (perhaps Nicks), the best available guard and another speedy wideout. Then we have instant offense. I know there are needs to improve the defense, but we have signed several defensive players and we could go CB and LB in the 4th and 6th if we need to. I really don't see it though as I feel strongly we will acquire more draft picks and maybe even a good player for D-Mac. It would not surprise me if everything else has been a smokescreen and Ireland, Parcells and Co. make this move. Jerry Jones is lying. He DOES want D-Mac but does not feel he has to deal with us to get him. He is looking for a bargain. We can make him up the ante and block the stinkin' Jets from picking McFadden all at the same time. I say we do it and chance reaping the benefits. Like I said, if we get stuck with him, pay the man, draft protection for Beck, and wait for Ronnie to get to 100%.

I disagree, I don't think any team would be willing to give up what it's going to cost to trade for McFadden at #1. He's not that sure of prospect, and it's possible he could slip out of the top 5, maybe even the top 10 (although I don't think that's likely).

And if we get stuck with him, that is a very bad thing, cuz then we're paying two running backs top 2 overall pick money, while we have half an o-line and practically zero depth behind that.

Not a chance.
Parcells will never draft a RB in round 1.
RBs can be found in any round.
It will be Jake Long.

:woot:Sunny! I couldnt have agreed with you more. I think we can trade McFadden and get good enough value for him. There are plenty of teams that could use him - Bears, Bengals, Lions, Cowboys, Jets, Texans, Titans, i could go on. Trade him for their pick and another 3rd this year and 2nd next year.

Worst idea possible ... there'd only be a couple teams would be calling and they wouldnt be willing to give up that much since they would also know there would only be a phone call. And if we possibly got stuck with him, we'd be screwed having to pay 2 top dollar running backs. Plus, tell me one time you remember Parcell's drafting a RB high in a draft? It doesnt happen!

I think we draft him and play him. All other need picks can be had later. I don’t think it matters at all what other coaches and drafts have come before or how much we have tied up in the position. I think Booker is too small to play a whole season, maybe I’ll be proven wrong. Williams might play well enough to get a fifth round pick for him before the deadline, Brown plows over and through people and I admit looked like a beast last season (didn’t help us win a game, though) McFadden is a major upgrade to the Miami Dolphins football team, and a major step in the right direction for Parcels and company to remake this team. McFadden gives the Dolphins a scoring threat every time he is on the field, no matter who the quarterback or other players are. There are not many players like that in the entire NFL. It is something special when it is a part of the team you root for. That’s where the value of that top pick can pay for itself. He makes a billion dollar franchise have an element of star power, something this one is still lacking. It seems an idiotic waste of a (hopefully) once in a life time chance to pick the best player in all of college football and you pick a snoozer. This year you have Jeff Otah, Gosder Cherilus, Sam Baker, John Grecco, Ryan Clady and Anthony Collins all left prospects that can be had without blowing the top pick. When do you get to pick add a guy like McFadden, who is compared to Adrian Peterson, Reggie Bush, Bo Jackson, etc??

If we wanted to pick a player just to trade him, McFadden wouldn't even be the guy. More teams would be interested in getting Jake Long or a team like the ravens or falcons would be interested in trading for ryan. Cowboys wont take mcfadden if they have to pay him the salary of the #1 pick and I think teams around the top 5 who like mcfadden have other players they would gladly take if mcfadden was off the board.

The Cowboys just may be the team that is one player from the Superbowl and Jerry Jones loves him. With McFadden they get the most gifted offensive player in the draft and can take htem to the next level.

Please - Lets keep him from the JETS

The cowboys are trying to resign barber to a long term deal and hes going to get about a 40 mil $ contract. The cowboys would love to have mcfadden but they can't invest that much money in 1 position and really can't afford to take on the #1 pick contractually either way. The only way I can see the cowboys trading up is if mcfadden falls out of the top 5 which means trade with the fins...ain't gonna happen.

Terrible idea, almost as ludicris as passing on the #1 in order to save money.

McFadden is gonna be a walking IR soon with his skinny legs, wuss upper body and that upright running style. Please.

He is NOT the most talented in the draft, many people say he might not even be the best back in the draft. I wouldnt want him at 1 even IF we didnt have Ronnie already. Just take Jake or Chris and be done with it.

we could take anybody at 1 and would be a difference maker, this is going to be a great draft for the fins and their future of the building block for this franchise

Stop worrying about what the Jets are going to do. Do they even have enough cap room to sign a guy like McFadden?

They can sign him with #6 money. I hope we dont see some:boohoo: on this site when he gaines 200 yards on us twice a year.

pick anybody and lets start the rebuilding process already
