guys let me say this out of tough love here.

i love the miami dolphins more then life itself and i have always tried to post somewhat positive thoughts but i sometimes fail to get my message across because things always seem to backfire one me. realisticly i am not seeing a lot of improvement with this club.
i wished , i just wished that i could see our team get a dangerous receiving corp and a te tandem that could put the fear of feidler into opossing defense's unfortunately i think this season will be a stormy season for us for three reasons.

1. so many holes and depth issues.
2. a lackluster offense esp at oline qb, and wr
3 the schedule isnt condusive for a wining season.

so my aqua pals i am forecasting asuper bowl in the near future but first this season will be a 85-90 % of us going 4-12 or 6-10 with injuries being the deciding factor.

while most dolphin fans are in major denial about our receiving corp i am not happy with the offense at all. a few things i want to see before i predict clear skies.
first , we absolutely need a franchize qb .
second we need two olinemen and one f/a olineman.
third we need another runningback and for ricky to stop with circus act that he brings.
fourth we should bring in 2 wrs and light a fire under hagan and company.

last , we should try o get lb patrick willis in rd1 and get qb kolb in rd 4.

plus we need manny and r wright to get with it

but most importanly we need some good luck.:cooldude:

Rod Wright hasn't played a down yet. Can't complain about him yet. I agree Booker and Chambers have to go.

I disagree about the OL. I think we can draft three OL on the first day after trading down and build a very successful OL. If we draft the right guys, a mean OL. Samson Satele is vital to this years draft.

I also disagree about QB. If Earl Morral and an injured Bob Greise can lead a team to an undefeated season then Trent Green and Cleo Lemon can lead the Dolphins to a playoff season.

If we draft CB with our first pick and hit a winner and get a good one right out of the box our defense alone could be good enough to carry us into the playoffs if we don't get hit by injuries.

With a decent QB,(just a decent QB) and an improved OL and secondary we can win. We can do to every team what we did to the Bears and Patriots last year.

What we can't do is spend half our draft on Brady Quinn. That is desperation and failure, probably for a long time.

^ i agree ..... lets just hope quinn falls to six tho so we can trade up n get him .... all we have to offer is our third rounder along with our first to get into six slot.... i wood do that

Eliot...I have to totally disagree with you on the QB issue....Earl Morrell was a very good qb, although older. Griese had a clean fracture broken leg and coming back was not a real issue as it is with CPep. Griese, while not the physical specimen that CPep is, was a much better qb than CPep will ever be.

That's not a real knock on CPep, but his issue is his health. And the with Lemon...what do we really know about him ?? The answer is in one word: Nothing. With Morrell, we knew what we had, even though he was older at the time.

But the overall theme of your post is very good. The bottom line is, very simply put, making the right draft decisions is imperative. That will be the telltale sign of Cam-Mul's legacy. Whether or not they get a Quinn in the first is not as important as how much every drafted player contributes. The picks in the 2nd and 3rd, have to be able to come out swinging and at the very least contribute to the team come September, if not start somewhere. Additionally, the later round picks need to be able to contribute at some time in the next season or two.

I'm not a gloom and doom person and feel optimistic that we are moving in the right direction. I'm not too impatient a fan to wait to see how some of the cogs we have in place right now work out either (CPep, for example). While I'll still be disappointed if we are sitting home in January, I'm realistic enough to know that more than likely that is exactly where we'll be. However, I'll be excited if we see some quality depth and some players blossom that should be blossoming this season (Wright, Wright, Evans, Toledo, Alabi, etc)...

It is very hard to predict what will hapen this year. We do have some young defensive players (J. Allen, M & R Wright, Evans) that might step up. If so our defense will be awesome. The O-line will depend upon the draft. A decent left tackle will make a world of difference. The right side is good, center is acceptable but not great. If a LT comes in a plays well our O-line could jell into a nice unit. Then everything falls on the QB and receivers (Running back will be fine). Here's hoping it all works well.

Agree with most of what you said. However, if we draft Willis we better trade down from the #9 position

Or what? We might miss the playoffs?? again Kwaaa Kwaaa Someone call a Wambulance plz

just for the record i am not down on r. wright or manny for that matter , its just the nightmares i am still having of dave and rick they are still with me . i am suffering from mad cow disaese and from wannysyndrome but as denny crane always says its the jets fault .

stop the negative crap he is currently in alabama right now 2007 fins will draft brady quinn to be our next and new franchise QB that will finally replace the greatest QB of all time hands down! but quinn will be groomed his first year under culpepper and the soon to be trent green.the dolphins will finish 1st in defense and about 8th in total offense that spells a return to the postseason i predict the fins will be the saints of 2006 but better on defense they will finish up at 11-5 that's my sunny forecast for 2007 dolfans!

:rolleyes2

You realize that Earl Morral wasn't your avg. backup player.
You should also realize that you just insinuated that Cleo Lemon is just as good a backup as a Hall of Fame QB was.

come on people.

Judging by the thread title, I thought, "Oh goody another chicklen little thread."

Then OhioBryan's unbridled optimism just totally "ruined" the thread. :D

Seriously, SoDak hit the nail on the head. Its very hard to predict to what will happen. So, lets not get to carried away playing the What if game.

I for one have my preferences but have no control over and am enjoying the "process".

I can hardly wait until after pick 60... I know 70% of you will be upset if Drew or Brady isn't acquired... another 20% will be fit to be tied if after round 4 Edwards isn't a phin.

Actually Greise was a decent athlete. He had good quickness and was an adept scrambler. He didn't have a strong arm and he was short at 6"1", for a QB. He was great because of his mind.

Coming back at the end of the playoffs when you have been out for three months is not easy. The point is 38 year old Morrall plyed most of the games and was effective.

The defense won most of the games but the offense was decent and didn't make a lot of turnovers.

The big point is we can win with a strong defense and mean, powerful OL.

If we sacrifice defensive excellence and short change the OL it doesn't matter who the QB is, we won't win games.

Are you actually trying to say that you think Earl Morral was a better QB than Trent Green?

The comment about Lemon and Griese is ridiculous. I didn't say that and you know I didn't say that. However as one who personally watched many, many Griese games, as far as pure passing and just passing,Lemon is better and Bob would tell you that himself if you ever asked him.

Bob Griese may not have had the best arm but he is probably the smartest quarterback Miami has ever had. Thats not to belittle Marino because Marino was smart, but Marino's gift was he probably had more natural ability than any quarterback to ever play the game. And yes I did see a lot of Griese's games as I was born and raised in Palm Beach County and saw many games in the orange bowl. Those were great days. And oh, by the way Lemon hasn't proven anything, yet.
