The top 12

I expect Pitts to be gone. The only way he is there at6 I think is if a QB goes at 4 and Cin takes Sewell.

I think future money will have a affect. WR's are expensive in FA as are LB's, so to get a young buck on a rookie contract at an expensive position may well be a large consideration for Grie/Flo. We need both and have 2 picks first round and 2 seconds.

I'm totally fascinated on moving back to #6 so early.

Like... moving from 3 to 6 was worth netting a 2023 first rounder to Grier and losing out on potentially the top 2 non-QBs.

But there is someone else that is worth giving up our 1st next year to move back up. Hmm... can't wait for the draft!

Fuller was a one year buy and try...insurance in case they fail to land somebody in the draft that can take the top off a defense.

I don’t think he changes anything in their plans, just gives them some draft flexibility.
Totally agree. Fuller is a one year plan. If he balls out, then we cannot affort him. He is not in our long term plan.
We need a receiver in this draft. I categorize Pitts as a receiver.

I totally buy in Grier and Flo target a receiver in this draft when they made the moves and landed at the 6 spots.

If Sewell is their target, they will not take the chance and sit behind Cincy.

Sure we can.

The cap is due to rise approximately 45M next year.

If Fuller plays well, we'll make him an offer and we might even tag him.

Why do that when you can have a second year wr for the cheap.
And you have not considered other good players want a pay raise, such as X, Gesicke, Ogbah...

Parsons @6 may seem a tad rich but the kid is a freak and could be exactly what turns our D into dominant.

I tend to believe the so-called character concerns are BS. It would different if he was auditioning for

choir boy. This kid is about as close to pro ready as it gets. Very safe pick and yet immense upside.

Watched a program (I think it was "Hey Rookie") with Parsons, Pitts, Horn and Fields training together.

I though they were all very impressive -- but of course you only get to see so much... But there was

zero doubt they all had respect for each other -- and they were all legit NFL material. I thought

Parson stood out as the "leader" and was obviously insanely competitive. If Pitts ain't there at 6

Parsons is a very good prize IMO.

Why do that?

Because he may be better than the young players.
Too simplistic view.
Better? By how much? Does it justify the huge different in contract amount? Can we use the saving to improve other aspects of the team and make the team an even better team as a whole?

We are pretend GM on internet my friend.

Hard to say... we have not seen him play yet.

Nor have we seen what the rookie will bring.

Sure we can.

You do realize that WR has become the 3rd highest paid position in the NFL. That is right top WRs make more then top LTs now. Tagging Fuller will be like 20+mill after next season. This is why I am taking WR or Pitts if you feel he brings WR type impact. I think you will see a trend in WRs going higher for some time. Getting a top WR on a rookie deal also gives the biggest bang for your buck (outside QB/edge rusher). Don't over think it. WR/Pitts gives you top value talent and bang for your buck at 6 in this draft because we are not going QB and there is not an edge rusher worth 6th overall.

Several things...

1) We'll bring in a young receiver. It isn't either/or.
2) Quite a few of the teams who've ponied up big money on WRs have lived to regret that decision. Jones in Atlanta has been a cap buster for instance.
3) There isn't a WR worth that six either.

Here are the top ten highest paid WRs in the game...

You know what most of these teams have in common? Yup, they aren't very good... and almost all of them have too much money tied up in their offense... which is why they aren't very good.

It's been said that WRs make more money now... and for the most part, I think that's a mistake. Most of these GMs are on the hot seat, or have already been discarded. Many times, when you chase the latest trends, you just make a fool of yourself.

edit: btw... Will Fuller is 24th on this list and as everyone knows... only signed for one year and has no long term cap consequences.
