The Truth about A.J.'s Performance

WRONG! Wanny handpicked Foerster to come in and continue what Collier was doing, which is Norv's playbook. IT WAS TOO LATE TO CHANGE OFFENSES at that point, so Dave (probably at Wayne's direction to avoid a perception of rebuilding,) overlooked Trestman and Sullivan and got Foerster.

Same playbook, different playcaller. HEAVILY FAVORS JAY.

Nonsense. This "playbook" went out the window when Ricky retired. You don't do the same things without a feature back like Ricky. Both QBs had exactly the same amount of time to prepare for that reality.

Another form of proof: the 2 TE sets you'll be seeing. Those were in Norv's playbook?

QB Rankings for the gameFiedler 8.:roflmao:
Feely 78.5
McNair 101.3

I see a quarterback controversy with these numbers.:roflmao:
I'm glad Dave needs to sleep on it, so he can make the right choice:shakeno:
maybe dave should stay at a holliday inn express tonight??

Well, no...it isnt nonsense. While there will be changes to the playbook you can bet that a lot of the plays will remain essentially the same, especially the passing plays. Jay would of course be more familiar with those plays. The naming structure of the plays will also remain the same....something that Feeley was having trouble with during minicamps. And the argument of being here 4 years isnt as much a fallacy as you try to make it. Even with the O-Line upheaval, Jay still has much more playing time with Chambers, Thompson, McMichael, Minor, and Lee. Thats the starting TE, one of the starting WRs, the slot WR, the starting RB (for this game anyway), and the backup TE.

Even if you put all that aside, you still have to admit that starting against NFL calibre defenses for 4 years should give Fiedler a distinct advantage over Feeley. But, Feeley with his total of 13 games started since High School, already appears to be ahead of Jay.

First off JJ is an objective fan and an informed one, so please stop the condescending tone. JJ dont need me to defend him, but he is attacked for saying he supports the team and coach? Boy he really must be stupid to support his team!?!?

I listened to the beginning and end, my son had a baseball game (fall ball), all i know is AJ got a td and was moving the ball when time ran out. Jay went 3 and out both series he was in. AJ gives us a better chance to go downfield. Aj looked better to alot of people during preseason, as far as his ability, he needs to play, he shows better potential. Jay had 4 years in teh system, was put in favorable situations. Look at NO game, he plys 2 plays after the defense sets him up at the 14, throws 2 passes and get a td, one to Booker was good but also a good catch. thats it, he gets the job. Wanny says because he played better. Really, 2 passes are enough when all he had to do was go 14 yds? Conservative Wanny went with what he knew becuase AJ didnthave a reactionary grip on the offense, he may not still. There may be growing pains, but considering this year there is no expectations, is it not better to get them outof the way? Jay isnt cutting it, 5 for 13? Now I hate stats as an argument, but that completion % is bad. like CC said we need to go downfield more, who is better suited for that?

WTF??? I wasnt attacking him for "supporting the team"

The fraudulent argument that I think you were alluding to is that "AJ has been here 6 months while Jay has been the starter for 4 years, so AJ playing as well as Jay means that AJ is really beating Jay" one.

.

That would be common sense. If you can't see that, take off your number 9 Jersey, click your heels together 3 times and drop your Fiedler bobble head doll on the floor. Maybe then your trance will be broken.

I won't argue the obvious with you anymore, mostly because if the football gods are finally smiling on this team, Fiedler will never be an issue for the Phins ever again. Whether you think he's great or not this is a VERY GOOD thing for the Miami Dolphins.

I think there is a point made here, but it is something that every QB new to a system has to face. Should Philip Rivers be starting over Brees because of it? No. In fact, that is something that actually goes in Jay's favor. You can't start a guy until he has demonstrated familiarity with the nomenclature being used on the field. The good news is that this apparently isn't an issue with AJ any more based on today's news.

Even with the O-Line upheaval, Jay still has much more playing time with Chambers, Thompson, McMichael, Minor, and Lee. Thats the starting TE, one of the starting WRs, the slot WR, the starting RB (for this game anyway), and the backup TE.

I take issue with Minor. He was nothing more than an afterthought during the Ricky era. If you want to suggest Sage has more time in with Travis, I think that's a valid point. I also want to point out that Konrad wasn't a starter for this game, so he wouldn't be counted. I know you didn't mention him, but I want to keep it straight for those in the peanut gallery.

Even if you put all that aside, you still have to admit that starting against NFL calibre defenses for 4 years should give Fiedler a distinct advantage over Feeley. But, Feeley with his total of 13 games started since High School, already appears to be ahead of Jay.

Well, I have to say that this appears to now be the opinion of the coaches. I really hope they're right and that we see lots of success with AJ under center.

It must be nice to always have common sense on your side. That is the last resort of a desperate advocate.

My point hasn't been that Jay is great. I know he has limitations, and I hope that you're right that AJ is good and healthy enough that we don't see Jay on the field again. Maybe this is all moot at this point and Dolphin Nation can stop dividing itself between the Fiedler bashers, those who will not stand for that sort of treatment, and those of you who are somewhere in between.

All the more reason to be shocked that he could even hang with Jay Fiedler, a starter on this team for 4 years now. You may not be sold on AJ but the fact is he has more talent and potential than Jay along with being able to run the offense equally or better with a limited knowledge of the playbook tells you that AJ should be starting hands down.
You made some excellent points:) and I agree with all of them;)
