Goodman was a talent from day 1 in Detroit after coming out of South Carolina. Injuries derailed his career, along with a horid Lions franchise. Saban made and excellent decision on targeting him. Goodman has great speed, is an underrated tackler, and has solid hands. His frame is the only thing holding him back from starting. Although a willing tackler, Daniels is better suited for running downs on the corner. Goodman is the best cover corner on this team and a fantastic pickup by Saban which is evident in the number of times you've heard Goodman's name called after he has given up a big play this year - zero.

Goodman has been fantastic this year. He looked extremely impressive during the preseason. I'd like to thank cigar for the thread...as he's entirely correct.

Earlier in the off season I thought Goodman COULD be just another Reggie Howard or Mario Edwards, but Saban really picked nicely when he picked him up. He has indeed been our best corner...probably our best player in the secondary. I think Will Allen has a little bit more in cover skills but Goodman doesn't give up the big play and Will Allen does.

Goodman's not a #1 corner but he's definitely a solid #2. We actually have three #2 corners right now and while that has certainly helped our nickel packages from becoming a weakness, we do need a #1.

I guess nobody out here is interested in anything unless it's a blistering criticism of a coach or a player.

I agree 100%. I'm a big Goodman fan. But we still need a #1. Could be Daniels if he could stay healthy.

Saban should definitely draft a CB in the 2nd or 3rd round next year. It's his area of expertise. He should be able to evaluate who are the best CBs coming out, and one last addition to our secondary would hopefully improve it without causing too much a disturbance in the chemistry or gelling process.

I doubt the #1 is Daniels. We need to draft a guy. The top of the 2nd round could have some great corners that could eventually pan out to be #1 guys. I like Dameyone Hughes personally, depending on his foot speed.

i agree goodman has been our best cb. not only cuz the others arent playin as we but he really hasnt done anything that bad. will allen's biggest fault has been the penalties on long passes, other then that he has been decent. its true we have 3 number 2 cbs. we need to find a number 1 cb somewhere. cornerback is not one of our biggest needs tho imo going into the offseason. safety is much more of an issue. jason allen and bell our the only two keepers at safety.

CK, thanks
Some of us still look at the positive

What the deuce!?! You take your Saban and Goodman love back to Tampa with Daunte! How dare you insinuate that Joey isn't the greatest player on our team of all time and if it weren't for that bust Ronnie Brown holding him back, he'd throw for 400 yards every game....

:sidelol: :sidelol: :sidelol:

I couldn't keep it up anymore. Weekly the threads get further and further from the truth. Got any spare room in VIP? I'm thinking I'm going to have to bite the bullet sooner than later.

I disagree. Jason Allen, Hill, and Bell are solid. We are sorely lacking at the CB position.

Ya, you dont get to see Goodman much because he usually doesnt get the ball thrown his way. He has been good in coverage. I cant remember any specific plays of him, but thats a good sign because you only really see a corner when he is giving up plays...
