The jets loss HAD ZERO impact on the playoff picture for the dolphins. it didn't do ANYTHING to improve our chances. the jets would need to lose both of their games the next two weeks against poor teams in order for miami to pass the jets in the playoff picture (assuming the jets win a home game the last game of the season against the dolphins). and that just isnt going to happen.

At this point, Miamis entire playoff hope comes down to beating the jets in new york the last game of the year. Baltimore would need to lose three straight for miami to have ANY hope of a wild card, and I doubt they lose at home to jacksonville the last game of the year with the playoffs on the line.

Plain and simple. MIAMI HAS TO BEAT THE JETS IN NEW YORK TO HAVE ANY CHANCE OF MAKING THE PLAYOFFS. its cut and dry at this point. The whole season comes down to that game.

I'm sure you thought that SF couldn't beat them either, after what we did to Buffalo I wouldn't be surprised for them to go to NY and pull one out. That said the NYJ game against us doesn't mean squat if we don't beat SF this week and KC next week. That will be no easy task, though I'm sure there will still be people posting we should blow them out.

all i know is that the team is still in the playoff race and till theyre not we still have a shot. they have onlythemselves to rely on. win out and they are in.

yeah it changed nothing... if NE would have lost too, then it would have helped because we would have been able to lose one of these next 2 games and still win the division by beating the Jets...

but we'll just win out, go into the playoffs winning 5 straight and ready to surprised the hell out of the NFL world...

you have my vote as the stupidest thread of the week!!!!

without the jets loss, the last game of the year would mean squat which means the jets game did everything to improve miamis chances...

ummm incorrect... if the jets had won every game but lost to us the last game, and we won out, we would have been tied record wise and we would have had the tiebreaker...

going into this week it was known if we win out the final 4 games we win the division, without needing help from anyone...

this jets loss though didn't change that because we still have to beat them the final game of the season as of now...

QFT
jets loss means we are the masters of our own destiny. nobody wants to have to rely on another team losing in order to have a shot. now all the phins have to be concerned with is winning games, the way football should be

Not true, if New England loses 2 of 3 against Arizona, @ Oakland and @ Buffalo . . . and the Jets loses against Buffalo and @ Seattle . . . we could lose the final game (after winning the next 2) and win the division (most likely the 4 seed).

I'm just saying . . . it isn't impossible . . . Buffalo is not going to lay down (atleast I hope they don't) and those west coast games are never a gimme. The Jets loss made this all possible. If the Jets would have won today . . . we would have HAD to beat them, as of right now . . . that is not the case.

Playoff picture aside. A jets loss ALWAYS makes me laugh.

It did help you as it removes our safety net. Now we cannot lose another game(unless NE loses then we can lose the Seattle game) and we cannot clinch in week 16 which we could have done w/ a win yesterday and the next 2 weeks and 1 dolphin loss.

It did help us. We can now lose to San Fran, as long as we still beat the Jets.

Of course this also assumes NE loses a game.

I do not believe we can lose to KC due to them being in the AFC.

this dumb.

If we lose to SF and beat KC and the Jets we win the AFC East.
Actually we would need NE to lose once as well.

Without yesterday's Jets loss this is not the case.

We could lose to KC and beat san Fran and the Jets . . . the Pats loss would have to be to Buffalo or Oakland.

Next week is not going to change much either . . . the only thing that could change next week is the Pats controlling the division (with a win, and a Fins loss). The Jets could win next week . . . and Fins and Pats could lose . . . and Fins would still control their own destiny.

May not mean much . . . but anytime the Jets or Pats lose . . . it means something positve for the Fins.

Jets win yesterday, and we would HAVE to beat them . . .no matter if the Jets lost the next 2 and we won the next 2 . . . that is not the case, as if the Jets lose the next 2, and we win the next 2, the Jets would be eliminated (even if they beat us week 17).

It always means something.

Sure it did. It put the Jets in a "shame-spiral" that has to help our players confidence level, and demoralize those slimy, green SOB's.

Mathematically ... not so much.
But, in terms of morale ... LARGE!
