I've seen it mentioned that despite things seemingly going wrong for Miami during Gase's tenure, Ross is still pretty high on him.

But let's face it, the supposed offensive guru and QB whisperer has done nothing in Miami that shows he can turn Miami from mediocrity on both offense and defense.

That, paired with short-sighted cap moves, is why this team is in dire need of a complete overhaul from top to bottom.

The "QB whisperer" hitched his job to a 29-year-old JAG at QB when he got the job, and then when given the option to upgrade, Miami doubled down by restructuring Tannehill's deal, not going after another QB with quality starting experience (Bridgewater), and not drafting a QB in any of the last 3 drafts.

Instead of hiring a proven defensive coordinator, he hired his buddy Matt Burke to run the defense in a scheme that is "built to have the lead" all while having an offense not built to score points.

Gase has also shown almost NO ability to get his tight ends involved in the game plan on a consistent basis. Miami took a tight end high in this past draft who would be more comfortable playing flag football than actual football.

Can we PLEASE get a coach on offense and defense with proven results in this league?

And, in regards to Gase; we've seen what I call nepotism.
Always going after "friends" or players he's had contact with in the past.
Cutler, Thomas, Osweiller, when there were other alternatives that were deemed better choices.
Burke is his buddy. Loggains is his buddy, etc.
He's been bringing his friends along for the ride and a payday, despite poor results.

Don't get me wrong, it's bad, but not as bad as when Miami's QB coach was Mike Sherman's son-in-law.

I will contend that Gase and his offense could be special if everyone stays healthy and everyone does their job.

The problem is, that is an absolute unreal expectation in the NFL.

Gase built this finesse offense (outside of Gore) and these guys just don’t have the probability on their side to stay healthy. Everytime your 2nd round TE makes a catch . . .A 190 lb Cb attempts a tackle and knocks him back 5 yards.

Putting all your eggs in the Tannehill basket, not only in 2017 but in 2018 was just piss poor management and foresight. The QB position cannot be such an afterthought like we have made it in the Gase tenure. Not for a supposed “QB whisperer”.

And watching Mike Pouncey be healthy and perform like the best center in the NFL is the ultimate indictment of our Strength and Conditioning team. What has happened this year with injuries is a disgrace and there are only so many coincidences before you realize that part of the team is a major issue.

Going forward, I don’t expect Burke back in 2019. Miami needs to cut bait on Tannehill . . . Not only from a financial perspective but just from a PR perspective as trotting out that “he’s finally healthy Tannehill 3.0 baby” narrative just ain’t gonna cut it. Get rid of all your bad contracts this offseason. Don’t force a QB in 2019. Find your bridge veteran and give Luke Falk a shot. Draft tons of defense and if we are terrible in 2019 its sets you up for the 2020 QB class.

Not sure if Gase survives that . . . But at this point who cares.

I do. I don’t want him to survive 2018 because why would anybody think that 2019 would be any different?

I mean no matter what . . .5-5 with the injuries we have had is not fireable. It is actually pretty impressive tbh. I get its popular to be mad right now . . . But I try to put things in perspective.

We lost @Hou, @GB and @NE . . .probably should of won @Cincy. The only game that was ultimately disappointing was @home vs. the Lions, but we won vs. the Bears so that is a wash.

As crazy as it sounds, if Tunsil doesn’t get hurt in the Cincy game and Ryan isn’t playing hurt That game . . . .we are the 6 seed right now.

I don't mean to come down on you, but could've, should've, would've is just that. The reality is we have gotten no better in the time that Gase has been here and, in my opinion, it won't get any better.

Its fine . . . . There is a lot of bad football teams in the NFL, people on here like we are the worst need to channel surf a bit.

But I do understand this is more of a “over time” issue rather than a “this year” issue and patience has worn thin.

Can’t disagree.

I think thats the best long story short post you can make at this point. Great post.

Im willing to give Gase another season, but he needs to get rid of Burke, we finally have some young talent on defense and Burke isnt the coach to get the best out of them and help them grow. Im not as much in a hurry to replace Tannehill as you are... But if the right QB becomes available either through the draft or FA, then Im all for it as long as they dont pass up major talent at other positions to reach for a sideways move at QB...

That is with a team fully healthy was ranked last in many preseason poles.

Miami is 5-5 with a depleted roster and the worst starting qb in the nfl. That’s not a fireable offense at all.

Talking about TEs being underused? Gesicki was wide open on a play that Brock just flat out missed him for what would’ve been probably a touchdown. The qb play is holding this offense back when weekly there’s guys running OPEN and they are flat out ****ing missed. I don’t want to hear a damn word about “scheme” or “play calling” when they plays are there to make.

Get a better qb and this team is 6-3 easily right now.

I mean funny enough the record is likely the same.

In all of the losses the defense was just horrid. Hell even the Bears game they were horrendous . . . .winning that game seems like the stuff of answered prayers right now.

The bad offense aided in making the other team score less points. Green Bay could of had 40 if they wanted it.

The defense has been bad for the same reasons Jacksonville’s has been. I’m sure you know those reasons well.
