In less than two years, we only have ten players not signed by our new FO. They are Ronnie, Ginn, J Allen, Porter, Soliai, Roth, Fields, Cobbs, Moses, and Denny. Decisions will be made on these players before next off season to totally complete the change-over. I cannot disagree with any players who are gone.

We have 20 of 22 draft picks still on the team, Many looking good.

We have had hits in FA with Starks, Smiley, Bess, and Carpenter. Misses in Wilford and Green, and the jury's still out on Grove, Wilson, and Wake.

We have re-signed our own in Carey, Ricky, Crowder, W Allen and Bell. I saw no other better available options.

Thoughts?

Very Good Observations

:thanks: I thought it was worth mentioning, as it does take a bit of time to bring in that many new players and expect instant success. People forget that we were close to an expansion team two years ago. There is not a MacDonald's type fix in the NFL.

Agree with most and happy with Tuna thus far but...

I think we could've done better than resigning Crowder and Bell.

And I would've liked to see them trade Ginn before this season - or even now if possible for Dwayne Bowe who has been in the doghouse in KC.

I have said it before, Jake grove is possibly the best center in the NFL. He is definitely a top 5 center. I understand that people will hold off any enthusiasm until he makes it through at least 3/4 of the season. I do not understand not listing him as a FA hit.

After this year, I predict that Ginn, Allen, and possibly Denny will be gone.

Are you counting re-signed players because my tally is this:

Brown - Saban
Cobbs - Saban
Ginn - Cameron/Mueller
Camarillo - Cameron/Mueller
Carey - Wannstedt
Soliai - Cameron/Mueller
Porter - Cameron/Mueller
Taylor - I guess he was re-signed, but he's a Johnson draftee
Crowder - Saban
Roth - Saban
Will Allen - Saban
Jason Allen - Saban
Bell - Wannstedt
Denney - Saban
Fields - Cameron/Mueller

Even so, I get and like the theme of turnover. However it's pretty depressing when Saban netted only 4 draft picks in two years who are still on the roster; Wannstedt only has 2 guys - his era should be the veteran nucleus of our team; and Cameron/Mueller were just awful. I mean c'mon, their most valuable signing or draft pick is Greg Camarillo to this point.

Parcells and Ireland have 8 draft picks and 2 UDFA's in their haul, and of those 8 picks, 4 (Long, Henne, Langford, and Thomas) are starters and Merling is an excellent rotational guy. Their second draft alone has produced a starter in Sean Smith, and soon to be two with Vontae Davis as well as a rotational WR in Hartline.

I did not see any better available option to Crowder or Bell. Who did you have in mind?

It's tuff to bring in a new WR at this point. Who knows, with a W over the jets Ireland may do something.

I do like the Grove signing, and he has played well. As you said, I wanted to give him more time before calling him a hit.

The new FO re-signed those players to new contracts. So I put them with the Tuna guys. I made a mistake on Cobbs, Soliai, Fields, and Roth. They were on the flip side of my paper. Gotta stop chewing gum when posting. LOL

Thanks for the correction.

Love this thread. Though its funny how one week changes the WHOLE atmosphere of finheaven.
