This team is suffering from WSRE. To understand what this is.. you have to go way back- to 1996.

Jimmy Johnson takes over the team. Most of Shulas veterens get scrapped. JJ rebuilds this team from the ground up.

Over the next couple years, he drafts Zack Thomas, Jason Taylor, Sam Madison, Pat Surtain. The foundation of players that will keep us competitive for the next 8 years.

This year is kind of similar to 2005, except in this case, we still had a QB- Marino.

From 1996-2000, the Fins are ADDING good, young, players to the team. When in effect, helps them to be successful for years to come.

Enter Dave Wannstedt and Rick Spielman in 2000. Marino retires. Jimmy Johnson, a good friend of Wannstedt, tells Wanny one shed of advice. "Keep this team together, and get a running back."

So Wanny did one thing right from the start. He kept JJs foundation of players together. And second, he got the running back, by trading the bank of course, be he did it.

Besides for trading away two first round picks, these are the only good things Wannstedt ever did for this team.

During this period (2000-2003), the Fins were suffering from the JJRE (Jimmy Johnson residual effect). Which was a positive thing in this case. All Wanny had to do was keep these guys together and run the ball- and he would win.

In these years, we won on sheer talent. We had a damn good team in these few years. Our defense was lights out, and Ricky just shoved the ball down the other teams throat. But since we had a lack of coaching, no QB, and no game plan, we couldnt get over the hump to beat the elite teams.

In the mean time, Wanny and Spielman were making horrible personnel moves and bad drafts. We never really saw the effects of these because the team we currently had on the field overshadowed these.

The year 2004. Spielman takes over personnel decisions. This is the first real offseason where a person of the Wannspiel era really makes an impact on who he puts on the field. He got rid of the offensive line that played decently for the past 5 years and replaced them with scrubs with a bad coach.

He trades our second rounder for a 3rd sting QB and a 3rd rounder for an injury prone RB.

Meanwhile, the foundation of players that JJ installed here 8 years back, is now getting old and slow- and no depth was ever added to these positions to eventually replace these guys during the Wannspiel era.

Yes this was the year that it all came tumbling down, and the year the WSRE set in.

Lucky enough our owner knew what was going on. Wanny was fired and we hired a coach who was going to clean out all the remaining Wanny cronies.

Enter Nick Saban.

Hes left with a now a core with Wanny/Spielman players- and the good foundation of players that kept us in the games in the Wannspiel era is on the downside of their careers.

Not only that, but hes left with only 4 draft picks.

So you guys may not have realized, but Wanny isnt really gone. All the bad personnel moves, and draft picks ( or lack of draft picks ) have finally reared their ugly head.

So Nick Saban has no other choice but to clean up this mess before he can rebuild a good team again. Its gonna take a few years, and if you dont like it- root for another team.

We are in the midst of WSRE, and the only thing we can do is enjoy watching Saban build the team that will soon dominate once again.

But why is the team getting worse as the season progresses?

STOP MAKING EXCUSES.. Wanny and Spielman have nothing to do with the lack of intensity and preparation.. Please get over it and open your eyes, we suck chimps !!

Do you think that JJ won on DSRE in his 1st year when he scrapped more than half of the roster and still managed to go 8-8?

Are crappy players supposed to get better as the season goes on? No, they get crappier. And they will be replaced after the season.

Leave the chimps out of this.

because honestly alot of players are used to Wanny and like his style of coaching and are basic pre-madonnas, so yes to clear cut that the wanny effect is still here...and you cant blame nick if the players dont want to give 100 percent

What is interesting is you did not include a bullet point for Ricky Williams leaving the team.

That in itself kills any argument totally blaming last year's crash and burn on Wanny. His impact was major and for you to leave it out is a huge oversight on your part.

Excuse's...just excuse's. How many players weren't on the team from last season? The players that were on the team are the same players that came from a team that was 10-6...9-7....before the 4-12 year....and if you look at the REAL reason's why the team went 4-12....you would believe they wouldn't get worse this season with TWO number one drafted running backs playing now. For a team that started on such a high note....the've hit a low note not seen in Miami since 1968. There should be NO excuses on why this team is so lousy.....just real reasons....and until Saban and the rest of the coaching staff admit to those reasons....the Dolphins won't get better.

I dont really think that Ricky Williams leaving was a major cause for the bad season last year. It was MUCH more than that.

I could also argue that Ricky was another bad decision by Wannspiel. Giving up 2 first rounders for a flaky player.

So it goes either way.

WTF ??? Please guy stop the excuses. The players blow, the coaches blow (except the OL and Equipment Manager), the Head coach is not taking control and (drum roll please), the cheerleaders are the best "team" in this organization.

Where are the excuses? there are some good arguments. It's not his problem if u can't realize the complexity of this proccess

:shakeno:

We had no running game to speak on last year. We ALWAYS relied on it. It was our identity. Ricky leaving last year had the same impact as McNabb or Vick leaving their teams.
