Remember when the Fins were 0-2, coming off a horrible loss to AZ and heading into undefeated NE as huge underdogs. They unveiled the wildcat and blew the doors off the place. Why…. Because NE had never seen it before and had no idea to game-plan for it. It caught everyone off-guard. In the weeks since, it has become the talk of the NFL, but has lost much of it's bite… It's effectiveness being that teams have to game-plan and account for it.

What are the chances that the coaching staff will unveil a new gimmick offense for the 12/28 game vs. the Jets. One that no one has ever seen before. One that will have Mangina standing on the sidelines scratching his head as the Fins put another 6 up on the board. That would give the Fins a huge edge going into the playoffs. Is Henning creative enough to do it? Is Sparano gutsy enough to try it??

Thoughts?

Personally, I think the coaching staff will do whatever they can to get an edge in any game to win. But as far as throwing in a new wrinkle - I think the Wildcat's effects have been maxed out. Since the Baltimore game, when the Ravens D showed how to kill it, Henning has used the Wildcat usually once the team breaks the opponents 30 yard line, and it has killed several drives and leaves us kicking FGs instead of getting TDs - the Seattle game being the exception.

I'm sick of running it, especially when it dooms drives that worked so well in the normal, base offense.

If they're going to unveil something new, I think it would be a "tweak" if you will to the Wildcat. For instance, to copy off of Philadelphia, and line up Ted Ginn to take a snap and use his speed to get outside, find a way for Pennington to pass out of it, something like that.

I hope they're working on beating SF this week!

the thing about mangini is he never did well in pressure situations .. he beat the pats once in that rivalry

I loved the Wildcat, but I think this team is good enough to beat teams with our base offense. The Wildcat I think has killed drives lately....

I love the wildcat. The just need to run something other than Ronnie up the middle. It seems that that is the only play the run out of it lately. Of course it's going to get stopped. Pass it, reverse, flee flicker, we need something new out of it. Like you i also hope that we do something new against the jests.

true...but it has also saved us on a few. we are not getting 60 yards outta it...but 3 or 4 on 3rd is okay.

UI love the Wildcat too, but think the coaching staff have been lazy when it comes to it. They talk about all these formations and plays they can run out of it. So.... where are they? Just who are they saving it for?

With each week getting more and more crucial, they need those new wrinkles NOW!. Otherwise forget it. Ronnie is making all of the same reads out of it. He's choosing many of the same lanes to run through.

Gee.. would it be genius to finally put someone else back there in the Wildcat?

Man I could not agree more, it made me nuts last Sunday we would be moving the chains then run the WC and lose 4 yards. Pennington gets it done I think we use the WC to grind it out when we have a lead. We have only passed with it what 3 times I think it's more then predictable at this stage.

i think even as it gets stuffed from time to time it keeps Ds on their toes and opens up the pass game

i dont mind running the wildcat only if its need for one or two yards to get that first down but other than that i dont like it

i would like to see ginn or bess involved in the wildcat. That could open it up just because of the receving capabilities and the speed they posses.

But idk it seems that the line isnt blocking as well with it and more importantly ronnie and ricky aren't executing as well out of it.

About the only new wrinkle we haven`t seen out of the Wildcat, is Pennington catching the football. And I don`t know if that`s ever going to happen.

I'd put 2 QBs in the formation just to mess with the defense. You dont even use the second QB, just think about the defence's reaction.
