This is starting to become the most intriguing battles of camp IMO. And it's a position of strength. I'm curious to hear your predictions on how it will shake out. Here's what I think:

Locks:
Wallace
Hartline
Gibson
Landry

Near Lock:
Rishard Matthews....he's been playing real well. perhaps he's a guy we could trade?

Bubble:
Thigpen...with Landry looking good on PR do we need to use a spot on Thigpen?
Cone....here's an interesting guy. Looks very good. Is actually a veteran. Can excel on special teams. I like him. Maybe practice squad
Hazel....havent seen much. Maybe PS.
Damian Williams....looked good early in camp. has quieted a bit. But then again he had Lobato throwing to him. I like his upside.

Am I missing anyone else?

I think you can move Matthews to lock then it will come down to Binns and Thipen if they keep 6. Dependant on whether or not they find a returner will determine which stays.

Wallace, Hartline, Gibby, Landry, Mathews --- If 6. Williams.

I think Thiggy will be the odd man out.

Binns, Cone - cut

Hazel -PS

My bet is Ryan Spadola is the next wr voted off the island.

Matthews is absolutely tearing it up in camp by all accounts, and gave a good showing in the first preseason game (yeah, yeah, first preseason game) as the team's #1 receiving target. We've also heard that he is no longer in Joe Philbin's doghouse.

I can't imagine that he does not make the roster. I'd be stunned.

I'm with you on this. I was very close to having him as a lock. But thought it was possible we traded him. He does seem to have excellent chemistry with RT and I want to see him make the team. If we are indeed using more of a spread offense we can use al the talent at WR that we can get. I do agree with other posters that Binns, Cone and Hazel will likely be cut. Maybe Hazel for PS though?

I was at Training Camp today and I'm familiar with most of the player numbers, but #15 looked good on multiple plays. I had made up my mind that Cone was probably just a camp body before seeing him in action. Somebody told me that #15 was Kevin Cone and my immediate reaction was, I don't believe you - who is it?
However #15 is Kevin Cone and believe it or not he did look very good on multiple plays. Very polished route runner and he made some good catches. He moved like an experienced NFL professional.
BTW - Yes, he's 26 but that is still 13 years younger than Peyton Manning. I guess that makes him too old to play in the NFL.
I doubt that he makes it, but Cone looked good today. I'm rooting more for Binns or Williams, but Cone is not chopped liver.

I predict thigpen stays. Returning Kickoffs.

I just dont see them putting all returning duties on Landry and you need a couple of guys anyways or you end up with Grimes in spot duty.

I believe it was the RB Williams that was returning kicks and not the WR. We will know more Sat.

What a good problem to have as opposed to 2 seasons ago when our receiving corps was one of the worst in the league!!!

Spikedex - I'm just saying next year Cone will be 27 and that's typically too old to start an NFL career. Yes at 39 Manning would be too old to START a career. In Cone's case I'm just saying if you didn't make the cut at 22, 23, 24, 25 and 26 what would make you think things will be different at 27.

cone will make some team if he continues to shine.with the depth we have it would really shock me if he makes the 53

I agree he looks like he could worthy of an NFL roster spot I just don't see it being in Miami. I was saying earlier that if he doesn't make roster this season it might be time to call it a day at his age.

Matthews is not only young, but as a former 7th round pick hes extremely affordable. You dont trade that away when hes finally starting to show he can play up to his potential. Not unless you get an absurd, Madden-ish trade offer. Im still not quite ready to rely on him, but im more than willing to give him a chance to show me he can be in our long term plans.

If one of them has to go, its got to be Hartline. That contract starts getting stupid next season. This has come up often on here, but we need to be proactive now instead of being reactive later. Its possible to get a 4th or even a 3rd for Hartline while his contract isnt that bad and hes coming off a good year. Best case scenario: Matthews is the real deal and can immediately fill Hartline's void. Worst case scenario: Landry, after having a season of experience, steps into Hartline's role for the 2015 season. Either way, by next offseason we will have an extra pick and his production should be replaced.

This roster still needs rebuilding. We need all the draft picks and cap room we can manage. Its of the utmost importance that we use our limited resources in the best ways possible. Not only can Hartline be replaced, its damned plausible that we already have that replacement on the roster. Its time to sell high.

I don't think Binns has done enough to stand out from guys like Damian Williams. The five locks for me are Wallace, Hartline, Gibson, Matthews and Landry. It's so awesome to be able to have that many quality receivers. I'd feel comfortable with any combination of those guys on the field. I also hope it gives us a chance to spread it out a bit to give Miller some running lanes.
