Miami Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano knows what is being said about his future with the team. Still, Sparano is staying focused on fixing all that is wrong with the winless Dolphins (0-4).
Miami's upcoming game is against the New York Jets (2-2) on October 17. Here is what Sparano had to say on Tuesday:
(On owner Stephen Ross' confidence in him)
"Really appreciate what (Stephen Ross) had to say. Right now really, honestly, my sole focus is how we're going to get this thing turned around and get ourselves going in the right direction. We got a week right now to get ourselves going but I completely appreciate what he had to say."
(On talks of his job security)
"Getting my team ready to play. So that's over for me. I don't have anything else to say. You guys [the media] can say it all."
(On what Sparano is looking to fix during the bye)
"The problems, the problems. You are looking for good and bad. It's important to show the players good and there's plenty of good. Again, the number of big plays, chunk plays offensively, and I think that area of the game and how we rushed the ball in the first few games. I think there's plenty of good out there when you look at some of that stuff. I think that we have to focus right now when you’re 0-4 on showing them the bad. As I approach today I said look, the next three days are going to be hard days because we're all going to hear things that we don't want hear, me included. It's going to be me; it's going to be them. I mean you hear things you don't want to hear right now but, I mean, the truth is we're here for a reason and we got to get ourselves better. Don't come in here with thin skin today and for the next couple days we're just going to go through this, you're going to get corrected and we're going to hack through it together and we're going to communicate. That's the way that we're going to approach it."
