Most of the media has finally gotten over theri fellatio-fest with Vick (several recent articles have come out questioning whether Vick will ever live up to his potential) but apparently Theismann disagrees.
"Theismann: Vick can be a consistent passer in this league and he's proven that in small doses. He's still learning the position and learning what offensive coordinator Greg Knapp wants him to do out on the field. Also, this team needs to start relying more on Warrick Dunn in the running game to take some of the pressure off Vick."
Still learning the position in his SIXTH season? Sure he missed an entire year to injury and didn't start much in 2001, but that doesn't matter.
I'm not saying it is impossible to develop late--Rich Gannon was a late blooming starter, and both Terry Bradshaw and Dan Fouts took 4 or more seasons to blossom.
However, when you're in season #6, especially in today's NFL, the time comes where we stop assuming the ship will right until some proof has been offered. Personally, I think Vick is content being the QB he is...and why shouldn't he be when Theismann and others let him off the hook?
