I have a basic theory on Chambers abilities on the football field. First of all, I'm not here making excuses for him dropping balls or not going after bad passes to prevent interceptions and such. We've all seen that Chris is capable of making amazing catches and being a playmaker at times. Then there are the times when he disappears, drops passes, etc.

Does anyone think that his hesitance to go up and get a ball in a jump ball type of situation, it's related to him getting laid out by Kennoy Kennedy a few years back in Denver? I mean, I believe that was CC's second year and from what I remember, he did go after balls alot prior to that hit. It does seem each year, he does less and less as far as going to get the ball on bad/high passes. He does go after balls that are closer to the sideline or back of the endzone effortlessly.

Again, not here to diss or make excuses for him, just wondering if anyone thinks that that one hit may have been burned into the back of his head for the remainder of his career?

if hes scared, put in welker. i GAURANTEE he goes up for it with even three shots coming at him.

I don't think so. He has gone up for balls and laid out for balls plenty of times since then. Remember that incredible catch he made in preseason against the Jags? He got jacked up than too. I would think his main problem is concentration.

I still like Chambers. I think he will be an awesome #2 if we ever get a #1 WR.

going back to his home town too.

Really? hes from Cleveland!? something about that just seems odd...maybe thats just me...

he does still make those high catches with a defender sittin right behind him and lays out for them now and then. as far as the kennedy hit, when u get jacked up that fear usually only stays with you for that game, being a receiver myself i know this :D you're not exactly traumatized for the rest of your life.

To me this could be a very important game for CC.... Not to say that a game a career make.. But in light of all the criticism he's been receiving.... It would bode well for him to have not just a good game.. but an outstanding game. Booker is looking very clutch at the moment. And enthusiastic. CC has to respond.. I think people will be loking at how well he deals with this adversity.

I think Chambers just thinks too much. If you notice, some of the balls he drops, he's already trying to make a break down the field. He has to keep focus ont he ball, and make the catch before anything. He makes a lot of great catches, but he has to deal with the pressure better. Focus on the ball, not on the results.

His glaring weakness is going down to catch a ball - has been his entire career. I dont think at this point he's going to improve much in that area. Two solutions presentr themselves. 1) Spend the entire offseason practicing catching low thrown balls. 2) Have a QB who doesnt put those throws 6 inches off the ground.
