I have never seen the level of negativity that I have seen through the views of Miami and the draft. What is especially noticeable is how most of the espn crew are so pessimistic about Miami getting what they want. What is even more evident is how most of them have Ronnie Brown going to Miami. They are even hell bent about it. They must think he was what the smoke was hiding. In general folks are sticking with Brown, completely ignoring general rules about the draft. They say it is not generally good to draft a rb early, yet they say we will. They say we want to trade out, but they imply no suckers will do it. They have already pegged Saban in a rookie manner and that he does not have realistic expectations. This opinion is becoming more the rule among the media sources.

With all this said I am beginning to wonder who is more disillusioned. Fans or the media. If Miami picks a rb I am really disillusioned.

Do you guys think Saban has extended his cold media approach in such a way as to garner all this "rookie" label crap?

If we dont pick Either Ronnie Brown, cedric benson, or cadilac williams

I'm offically a Bills fan...lol

I mean its stupid not to get a RB, we allready have 2 quarterbacks, and we can draft McPherson in the later rounds

I have always thought that ESPN has the Dolphins viewed in a negative light no matter what they do. Call it a conspiracy but alot of times it's the same people who dont like to recognize Marino as at least top 3 QB's of all-time and why they get pissed about the 72 Dolphins popping champagne every year after the last undefeated team is beat. Were not asking for much...just some positive light. Perhaps they just dont like us. :shakeno:

it is unlikely that we will draft a running back at #2.....i've said this from the beginning. the only way it happens is if smith is taken by the 49ers, there are absolutely no offers (which i can't see) to trade down, and saban decides that he doesnt want 3 talented wrs on the roster. if we stay at 2 the pick is edwards or smith.

Yeah, there are over zealous fans among us all. But I am trying to temper zeal with general practice. And I actually feel Saban practices good judgement when it comes to value. Maybe too much. No rbs in the first 5 picks. NO reaches if there are multiple needs unlike our old punching bag wanny. Speilman and Wanny have really set us up as pushovers in the draft world by going beyond sense. Wanny rivals the Colts for some truly bonehead moves.
 
When the running back is the best player in the draft, why not pick him?

Look at the 2000 draft. LaDainian Tomlinson is clearly the best player to come out of that draft. Would you not take him with the 2nd pick? I would, and there isn't a single wide receiver in the NFL that I would take over the running back LaDainian Tomlinson.
 
If we keep the 2nd pick, I see no reason in the world to NOT pick Ronnie Brown. He fills a huge need for us and IMO would make this team instantly a playoff contender. He has the size, he has the speed, and he has the hands...What more do you want in a franchise back?

KB the draft was the 2001 i believe and the reason that Tomlinson went so high(5th overall i think) was because there werent any more backs worth anythign in the draft. So if you had a top 5 pick and needed a back you took him. I think only Mccallister was the other good back in the draft and he wasn't half as good as Tomlinson in college, i think Jordan went in the 2nd round in that draft as well. Just a hugh dropoff in talent. In this draft you have 3 that are top 10-15 material with 10 more that should be late 1st-3rd round that are not too far behind in production and talent.

THANK YOU!!! This is what I've been feeling for so long. There's such a broad opinion that #2 is too high for a RB or nobody in this class deserves #2 money. If the player is WORTH the pick, VALUE is attained. If VALUE is attained, who really cares where we take him?

Ronnie Brown, in my opinion, would add instant and consistent long-term VALUE to this team. Therefore, I feel he is WORTH the number 2.

How about not paying my new rookie running back 40 million plus because thats what he's going to want. Only one position on the field merits that kind of money. Furthermore there are at least 10 other backs that can be had in the 2nd-perhaps 4th round that will be great pickups. Good enough reasons?
 
Great Post, if we can't trade down we should go with Wr or Qb.
