First off, I'm so pumped for this weekend! Even more so this year after the horrid 07 season. I'm sure a lot of you feel that way. Anyhow, I know a lot of people dont feel that preason means too much but you can grasp a few things out of it. First off, our D looks improved, way improved. I remember the 96 preseason when Jimmy took over and noticed that the D was looking good and heading in the right direction. I feel that way now. The d-line and linebackers were able to preasure the quarterback and were pretty good in run support. Our secondary seemed solid against the pass, not giving up the big plays. Langford and Merling could be stars in the future. I'm hoping that Crowder plays like he's in a contract year because he needs to make more plays. I think he will. I also look for Lehan to regain his starting CB spot within the first couple of weeks. He has matured a lot as a corner and could become a solid number 2. On offense, I'm glad we got Pennington. He's not going to light up the field but can manage the game very well. I think you'll see a lot better ball security this year. Ted Ginn should have a decent season. I dont expect him to be a pro bowler or anything this year but he will make big plays. He has way too much speed to not make big plays. His route running this year has been great and he catches everything. Plus, he and Pennington seem to have good chemistry. With Ricky playing well, he and Ronnie should be able to have good luck running the ball. The offensive line is young and may take weeks to gel. So dont get too upset early if neither have monster games...But I believe they will as the season goes on. I feel confident that this team has some stars in the making and is heading in the right direction. I look for a 7-9 to 8-8 season. Sorry it's so long. Just killing time and wanted to have a positive outlook on the upcoming season.
