I was thinking about what Saban might use as motivation to make sure the team stays focused against Jacksonville. I'll bet he shows them the 62-7 loss against Jacksonville that was ultimately Dan and JJ's last game. It should get them all fired up. I know someone will point out that a lot of the current players weren't on that team but it will still get them fired up.

Thoughts?

I'm not sure why he would. We've played the Jags and beat them twice since then.

My point is that there are big stakes to this game. We thought we were a big deal going into that Jacksonville game and look what happened. Due to the two teams wearing similar uniforms it would have bearing. Whether your a new player or not, watching your team get beat like that will provide motivation.....to me at least.

I think for motivation, that is far reaching.

Maybe it is just me, but I think having the opportunity to reach .500 for the first time all season is motivation enough.

No seeing he wasn't here when it happened and most of the players that were on the team team aren't playing for us anymore.

this is a bad question and something im sure saban will not use as motivation.......if i was a player on the team and heard saban say something to the effect of "these guys embarassed you way back when" id be like huh???? are u kidding??!!!! cmon guy u can come up with a better thread than this

If that were the case then why didn't we win the second game and go to 1 - 1?

Leaving the players to come up with their own motivation sounds like as good of a plan as quitting my job because I have a good feeling about a lottery ticket.

The coach is there to coach. To provide motivation.

That might have been good motovation when we went back to go play the next game after that but we have already beat them since then. it would be lake saying "kill this team cause they beat our team 30 years ago..." if it doesn't pertain to the team at the present it won't work it my opinion.

That's a different scenario. Miami was the laughingstock of the league at 1-6. They're a game away from 6-6 now. 6-6 and 5-7 are...way different, let me tell you.

the 62-9 game would be silly motivation.

Few players from that team are even still present on Miami's roster...hell few from Jacksonville's team are even on THEIR roster anymore. What is Saban going to say?

"ONCE UPON A TIME, Jacksonville embarassed your franchise...but none of you were around to experience it sans 1-2 of you!"

Hell, why don't we use the snowplow as motivation every time we play the Patriots or the 29-10 loss to Buffalo in the 1992 AFC Championship every time we play the Bills?

motivation/bulletin board material has to be RELEVANT to work. And news from 7 years ago, especially given the fact that the two teams have played since then (and Miami has won), is irrelevant.
