I don't know if you guys noticed but around the late second qtr and the third the Jets started to stop the run a little better and mounted a running attack of their own, then came the Bomb to Ted Ginn Jr. and oops.... our running game starts working like a charm again. Coincidence? I think not.

Exactly and this is one way we were always limited before! The deep threat opens the defense up so much and makes them have to play a little more safe on every down!

Of course they were not scared at all of the deep throw they were stacking that SS Leonhard in the line of scrimage to stop Ronnie but then we blew them apart with that bomb. Then they didn't know if we were going to throw or run so they had the safety back there and we were running freely again.

thats what i am talking about.. the deep pass opens up the running game.. plus if we can ever get our hands on a true 1 wr that gets double coverage all the time.. think about it.. i counted 3 jets ginn left in the dust on that bomb monday night.. with a 1 wr.. its time to pick.. do you double cover ginn.. do you double cover our 1.. cuz when you do one of them will be wide open almost ever time.. and what about bess and those sticky hand across the middle.. and we already know what a good passing game does to a awesome running game.. only makes it better.. with a true 1 wr i think we will be a top 5 offense.. thoughts..

All this garbage about Ryan being able to shut down the WC based on the Ravens games is just that when when our O includes a laser-armed QB who stands in right in there on blitzes and the threat of actually not just reaching, but leading one of the fastest men in the league. Ryan couldn't hold Dick LeBeau's jock

It's only one game, Rex Ryan is still one of the best defensive minds in the game.

Dont forget to add When our O actually includes 5 OL starters and not backups.

The pass to Ginn obviously backed up the defense some. If Henne keeps showing the ability to hit those passes then our run game is going to be unstoppable.

On a side note, and this has nothing to do with this thread but.... starting off at 0-3 really hurts. Every game seems so crucial now and the Phins really can't afford to lose anymore right now. If they lose to New Orleans then they HAVE to beat the Jets. If they beat New Orleans and lose to the Jets then they almost HAVE to sweep the Pats.

No, I would say there is NO coincidence. In fact, I would not say the Jets ever really stopped Miami's rushing game if you look at the context of what occurred. Miami only had two possessions.

2nd Quarter
First Possession.
-1st rush- 1st and 10 Mia 20...Brown for 13 yards.
-2nd rush-1st and 10 Mia 33...Williams 6 yards.
-3rd rush-2nd and 4 Mia 39...Williams looses 5 yards.
Miami punts after incomplete pass.

2nd Possession.
-4th rush-2nd and 16 at Mia 10...Brown for 3 yards.
-5th rush-3rd and 13 at Mia...Brown for 1 yard.

The second quarter was controlled by the Jets thanks to a fake punt. On the first drive Miami had two successful rushes and on the third attempt Jenkins beat Grove and stopped Williams dead in his tracks in the backfield (good play on Jenkins part or bad play on Grove, but just ONE play).

On the second drive there was less than two minutes left and Miami got backed up to their 10 yard line due to a penalty on Grove. The Jets had two timeouts left and Miami got conservative to make sure they didn't turn the ball over and make the Jets use their time outs.

It was the context of the game that slowed down Miami and ONE great play by Jenkins. The Jets never stopped Miami's running on a consistent basis the whole night. The Ginn pass was nice, but that didn't have much bearing on the run game imo.

Yeah, because of our 0-3 start we're going to have to be really good in addition to catching some breaks if we want any chance at the Playoffs. I still think we're a 6-8 win team.

The credit goes to the OL... Happen to notice the time that Henne had to allow Ginn to outrun the Jests secondary???

The success in the run game also goes to the OL who dominated man to man almost all night... Let the Jest players complain about gimmicks... QB's... whatever they want.

Ryan is no idiot he knows where he got beat... In the trenches.

The OL gets big time credit for this win. Even Ryan said he looked like Dan Marinio but he had lots of time to throw that ball.

Indeed! another question, seriously! HOW FAST IS GINN?( low 4.3? low 4.2?) he seemed to almost slow down a bit to catch the ball! if the play was from the goalline hitting GINN in stride would he have been caught from behind?

wiki--"He has been unofficially timed at 10.02 seconds in the 100 meter dash and 4.20 seconds in the 40 yard dash. In 2006 at Ohio State university athletics day, he was timed as running a 4.27 40 yard dash" WOW!

I'm not so sure about that....looking at our schedule going down the stretch, it's very managable.

You really think so. He had a ton of talent in Baltimore, time will tell on this one. He doens't seam very creative and appears to have the mind set of a gold fish and the ****yness of Ocho Cinco. I don't think his style of coaching will win in this era, sure ditka did it back in the 80s but that was then and this is now. He will become way to predictable as the season goes on to be effective.
