ok so i am thinking of coming to a dolphin game this year with my fiance but i keep hearing really weird stuff from people about miami like;

the people arent nice
if you dont like the party life your going to hate it
if your not there to hook up with people not a place to be...

can someone help me out? i dont wanna go somewhere and regret what i am doing especially when i am with my girl i dont wanna be in a lame situation with nothing to do....

Miami is the best stadium I have been to as far as people being nice. I live in N.E P.A and have been to a few different stadiums. I would recommend going there then any other place i have been. Yes the area is good for partying, but if that's not what you are into don't go down to south beach at night.

That's a bunch of nonsense. Miami is a very versatile city with something for everyone regardless of age, race, or gender. I can get into just as much trouble in Dayton, Ohio as I can in Miami if I'm looking for it. Take the wife. Take the kid. Enjoy the city. There's a lot to see and a lot to do. There's certainly a party aspect in the city but it's also very laid back and relaxed. Check out South Beach, visit Nikki Beach, visit the great Ft. Lauderdale, and come back again soon.

plenty to do here, which is why fans are sometimes so fair-weather. if the teams is doing poorly, people just easily find something better to do with their time.

if you're here a couple days, take the hour's drive and see the keys, rent a boat and do some snorkeling and see some reefs. you can check out Las Olas and get some nice evening dining or walk the beach at Ft. Lauderdale which also has a bunch of eateries and bars. don't forget to get in some authentic cuban food, lol. Molina's in Hialeah is top rated IMO, but there is plenty to choose from.

I'll take Las Olas over South Beach seven days a week.

Just avoid the night life on south beach to get away from all that non-sence. There is a ton of stuff to do in Miami. If yourself and your fiance want to party, head on down to Las Olasl, like JCane said. The Beach is amazing(growing up there I never noticed, after two years in VA and a year in Afghanistan, I miss it). The people are great too. Pretty much anything you want to do, its in Miami or the immediate area. Personally, I would take a day in Ft Lauderdale over a week in Miami; for many reasons, not the least of which being the traffic.

Yeah, pretty much sums it up. Stick with Las Olas or downtown Ft. Lauderdale, which is very close to Las Olas. Riverside Hotel is right on Las Olas, but plenty others like the Doubletree on Sunrise Blvd. not too far away. Or 17th St. Causeway. The stadium is between Ft. Laud and Miami anyway.

Miami- Lincoln Rd. if I recall correctly is very nice, shops and restautants kind of like Las Olas. Pacific Time was a very good restaurant and there was a great Thai restaurant, too, can't remember the name.

But I would stick with Ft. Laudeerdale- Big City, Timpano and Samba on Las Olas (Mango's is there, too) and dowtown is a couple of minutes away by cab, about a mile away. Himmarshee Bar and Grill, plenty of other places, too.

As to the people, south Florida is what it is- very transient and not the best place in the world to trust people or meet nice people. Like anywhere else, it has good and bad. You and the wife can have a good time, just be careful. And if you want to worry less, stay in Ft. Lauderdale.

Uhhh.... You'll be watching a Dolphins game!!! Who cares about anything else. LoL, seriously though, there's a ton to do there and you'll have a good time.

bro, i go to south florida every year for a game. personally, i stay in the fort lauderdale area. i've been to south beach a few times, and it's ok. i'm not really into getting dressed up and dropping ten bucks on a beer when i'm out. personally, if i'm going to do that, i got new york city right next door to me. anyway, i love the lauderdale area. as with any city, there are going to be some crappy areas that you should probably avoid. ultimately, NEVER listen to anyone's opinions on where to go for YOUR vacation. everyone is different. do your research, cause you know what's best for ya. i live by that rule and i usually have a pretty awesome time wherever i go.

by the way, the stadium is pretty much equidistant between miami and lauderdale, so you cant go wrong either

Well I see everyone hates Miami...

I was born and raised in Miami. Trust me, you won't get killed just because you speak English. There is a reason Miami attracts millions of tourists from all around the world.

Born in Miami and raised in Miami/Fort Lauderdale....to make your wife happy there a TON of malls down there! If you travel north about 45 min into Sunrise they have the worlds largest indoor outlet mall (Sawgrass Mills), it has a ton of restaurants and many major deparment stores...;)

Understood and agreed, but give him some ideas to choose from. Case in point, Las Olas in Ft. Lauderdale. If coming to sofla with wife you have plenty of restaurants/bars to choose from and the beach is 2 minutes away if that with the elbo room right there on the corner of las olas and a1a. The you have beach place (complex of clubs/restaurants) about 3 blocks north right on a1a (a1a is the road right on the beach).

Check out this link- pelican grand resort. actually part of best western chain but very nice. on a1a between oakland pk blvd and sunrise blvd. very close to the parrot lounge and cafe bluefish. 5 minutes from las olas.

or the doubletree on sunrise blvd. or if you want to step it up the atalntic on a1a just south of sunrise blvd. the eagles stayed there a few months ago when they had a concert down here.

bottom line is that if i were going to sofla with the wife for a dolphins game and wanted something relaxing and on the mellow side i'd stick with ft. lauderdale. if you want crazy and hectic go to miami. that's not a knock on miami, you can have a lot of fun there. it just depends on what you're looking for.
