I saw enough against the Pats to confirm they’re not a playoff team so I’m ready to move on to the fun stuff; building for next year.

1. Fire Tannenbaum. I hold him most accountable for the personnel issues. Not even sure what he brings to the table anymore other than consults Ross. Ross should know enough by now to take over Tbums role too.
2. Gase’s should get one more year as long as they finish 8-8.
3. I don’t think RT is the overall problem, and too many other holes to spend a high draft pick on a QB.
4. DE. Need a stud. Get a FA on their 2nd contract or a rookie in the 1st rd.
5. WR. Need a stud. Can find one in the 2nd rd.
6. LB. Need a stud. Can find one in the 2nd.
7. Speaking of draft picks. Trade back and accumulate as many 1st and 2nd day picks as possible. Only way to acquire top talent, will be around long enough to build around, and inexpensive. For every 2-3 they hit on they make 2-3 dumb FA moves. Build through the draft. For example, look at the O-line. The ends were drafted by Miami. Both are their strong points, young and can be built around. Don’t obtain “stopgaps” at 30+ years old who have injury histories and decline both health and abilty wise.
8. OL: Center and Guard...smh, only been an issue for how long?!??
9. Get a legit D coord.
10. Play Fitzpatrick at slot corner to use his versatility appropriately. He could be shutting down high volume slot WRs and TEs, shutting down the run, and creating turnovers.

Good thing you don't own a team.

Watch some tape, things could be fixed schematically. Its a much different team from last year, drastically, on both sides of the ball. There have been improvements to their on field communications every week.

If this were mid or late season, I would worry, but it's not. We are 3-1 and still on top the afceast after a loss. That's way better than last year. Everyone needs to stop over reacting.

I don't want Gase back next year if they fail to make the playoffs, but if he does come back he needs to give up the playcalling. He sucks at it!

Seriously?

Hey I don’t care if people wanna jump off the bridge this morning . . . But its football season and we are 3-1. You literally just faced the worst matchup in the league . . . . A sub .500 Patriots team in their building, and you got worked. It is what it is.

It only counts for 1 loss . . . And while I was never a fan of how finesse this offense was built, these games still need to be played and adjustments need to be made, way early to be talking “offseason noise”.

Go and play some Madden or something and get your mind off yesterday.

We’ll revisit this at the end of the year and see if you still feel this way

I remember in 2006 we beat the Patriots 21-0, I guess they weren't a playoff team either and clearly it was the the beginning of the end of their dominance.

You are not saying anything new in your original post. Everybody wants an all pro team drafted in one year , you are not being realistic either. Also it's week 4, we are in 1st place, nobody wants to talk 2019 offseason. There's a draft forum if you want to talk about potential draft picks.

Why the hate?!??

This is based on Dolphins overall state and looking forward to the offseason. Not sure where I said I expect it in one year??? In fact, I mentioned need to build through the draft and/or sign players (“DE”) on their 2nd contract while also mentioning the dumb signings; injury prone aging vets. (Quinn, Sitton and Kilgore.)

here is what i dont get: the Patriots. Always had a mediocre defense, no threatening receivers or runningbacks now, just a good Tight End and QB. yet, they manage to win all the time. How? Defense has never been great, runningbacks never been great. How?? Belicheck is on the sidelines looking like he doesnt care. Yet, still win.

And we beat the Ravens, who beat the SB champs, who lost to the Bills, who we beat in 2017, so really Fins are the best. (Not saying that actually happened). My point is, although anything can happen, quality of opponent in wins/losses matters. Steelers are a better team than Miami despite their record. So is NE.

C’mon, Miami just isn’t that good. Maybe watch the rest of the NFL and you’ll see it. I’m not saying Miami is terrible either. Just saying they’re mediocre. Avg team. 8-8. Best of the worst and worst of the best.

Belichek is probably the GOAT when it comes to week to week adjustments and exploiting the opposing teams weaknesses..p. He’ll fix what his team did bad and stop what your team does well better than anybody.

Even when his personnel isn’t super sexy on paper.

The biggest swing and miss by the OP is he’s overrating the AFC. While I would not sign us up for the Super Bowl, or maybe not getting into the divisional round, the AFC is weak enough that an average team can squeak into the playoffs. The last 2 seasons there were teams that weren’t that good and yes we were one on 2016. Quit putting AFC “playoff teams” on some pedestal it’s not an insurmountable feat to make it anymore. There will be a pack of teams in wild card contention and 2 will not earn it but GET LUCKY just like the last 2 years. There’s going to be a ton of attrition between now and then. Talking about the 2019 offseason is a cute way to drill your point home but nobody wants to do it. I’m so sick of hearing “this is not a playoff team” when 2 crap teams back into the AFC playoffs every year.

Leadership at the top. The owner, the coach and the QB are the best in the business at what they do.

I agree on the AFC, outside of Chiefs, you got Jags and Pats (still not sold on Pats as font runners), then it's a jumble. LOTS of division games left and like you said the injury reaper is lurking every game so there will be attrition.

I actually like this post. The thing I’d like to point out is that when I refer to “playoff team” I’m thinking they’re a legit playoff team. One who deserves to be there because they’ll play quality football against the division winners during the playoffs. Not a playoff team because they got lucky, snuck in or had a cupcake schedule and craps the bed in the 1st rd.

The thing I disagree with is that the AFC has 7 legit teams: they’re just not all sexy picks. Ravens, Cinc, Chargers, Steelers, Jax, NE, Chiefs. Two of the Browns, Titans or Raiders will finish ahead of Miami.
