2002 Draft:
no 1st or 2nd rd. picks
3. Seth McKinney
4. Randy McMichael
5a. Omar Lowe
5b. Sam Simmons
7. Leonard Henry
The draft brought two full time starters: McKinney and McMichael. Henry played sparingly. Lowe and Simmons never played.
2003 Draft:
no 1st rd. pick
2. Eddie Moore
3a. Wade Smith
3b. Taylor Whitley
no 4th rd. pick
5a. Donald Lee
5b. JR Tolver
6a. Corey Jenkins
6b. Tim Provost
6c. Yeremiah Bell
7(comp pick) Davern Williams
This had to be one of the worst drafts in the modern era of pro sports. I think this draft did more to set the franchise back than any other. The worst draft pick ever was Wade Smith. The guy could not even get out of his stance before the defender was by him. Eddie Moore was a total bust. The only guy that is decent is Yeremiah. I had hopes that Corey Jenkins could play LB but that never materialized. The rest were just bad. It's sad when the best of your draft class is a 7th rd. pick.
2004 Draft:
1. Vernon Carey
no 2nd or 3rd picks.
4. Will Poole
5. Tony Bua
6. Rex Hadnot
7a.Tony Pape
7b.Derrick Pope
Vernon Carey was a good pick. Will Poole was always hurt. I thought Tony Bua should have stayed on the team for special teams. Hadnot was a decent player. Pape couldn't make up his mind whether he wanted to play the game. Derrick Pope turned out to be a valuable ST and back-up.
2005 Draft:
1. Ronnie Brown
2. Matt Roth
3. Channing Crowder
4. Travis Daniels
5. Anthony Alabi
no 6th rd. pick
7. Kevin Vickerson
RB, if he could stay healthy, could be a star. But that is a big if. Matt Roth seems to have hit his ceiling. Maybe a good situational player, but not a starter. Channing Crowder, while not spectacular, is a solid player. Travis Daniels maybe a S, but is definitely not a CB. Never understood why people liked Alabi. Vickerson never got a chance, probably didn't deserve it.
No comment on 2006.
2006 Draft:
1. Jason Allen
no 2nd rd. pick
3. Derek Hagan
4. Joe Toledo
5th pick forfeited
no 6th rd. pick
7a. Fred Evans
7b. Rod Wright
7c. Devin Aromashadu
no 1st or 2nd rd. picks
3. Seth McKinney
4. Randy McMichael
