This is from Dave Hyde and this is perfectly said...
Nickname trial: The Bottom Line. Because look at the cost. If the Dolphins sign Eric Winston (est. $6-8 mill) after they just signed Lydon Murtha ($1.9 mill), they will have spent upwards of $10 million for a starting right tackle and a back-up tackle - two commodities most teams find in the 2nd and 3rd rounds of drafts (or lower). Throw that together with the No. 1 pick overall (Jake Long) and highest pick ever for a center (15th, Mike Pouncey) and look at The Bottom Line. OK, rant's over

This is a very expensive O-line for how poorly it performs.  It's possible that it will improve with the new coaching staff and a better QB.

Not much of Murtha's salary is guaranteed.  Also, he could be traded.

How is 1.9 + est.6-8 mill= upward of 10 mill?

Sure is a lot of detail here to back up all them FACTS...

Why, because you and Hyde don't want us to sign another OL ?? Our OL has been a problem since.......well a long time. Even last year it was as inconsistent as ever. I don't see a problem. You build from the trenches out...

Besides, there has to be something else going on besides signing OL...Is Flynn on the horizon (I've seen at least one tweet acknowledging that.) Is Manning on the horizon ?? Trip to Tenn. cancelled ?? I think it's way, way to soon to start beating up on Irish yet...

Ya we'll have an amazing line, a mediocre QB, and a bunch of #2 and #3 receivers.

Hey, just like the Cleveland Browns! Great OL...everything else sucks ass.

Ireland stays as long as Ross owns the team......get over it.

He's saying Winston will likely cost between 6-8 million. If he comes at the high end, $8 million + $1.9 million = $9.9million, which is nearly $10 million. Even if it's the low end of $7.9 million, it's too much for that position.

But it's okay, as long as we don't overspend on QB...

I think the master plan is to spend one of our newly acquired 3's on our next "franchise" QB. Well done Ireland!

...Ireland took over. That's how long. It was fine before he and Tony started playing musical chairs. It was a top ten line in 2008.

And "building from the trenches" was a great philosophy in the 80's and 90's. Now it's simply a recipe for mediocrity, at best. (and 6-10 isn't even that).
