Looking at the team statistics vs opponents we lead in most categories. Yards both rushing and passing, 3rd down conversions etc.

Point is you wouldn’t think we were 2-5 until you got to scoring of TDs where we’ve been outscored 16-9. Turnovers ratio is -3 which isn’t good but far from horrible. Besides the obvious in the TD department, the statistic that stands out as the worst is 2-15 on 4th down conversions. Is that even possible?

Anyway, normally the team stats vs opponent tell a clearer story. What gives here?

The defense can't stop the run, so that skews the number defensively. Many on here a few weeks ago bought the top 5 pass defense ratings because they believe numbers don't lie. Oh numbers do lie lol.

We get no pressure, no sacks and no turnovers on defense.

Offense can't convert on 3rd or 4th down. We seem to move the ball, in some games, well between the 20's, but can't get in the end zone. That's been a problem since the 2nd half of the Titans game last year. We went from can't be stopped, to can't figure out how to start, on offense. That's all on coaching, and, personnel/roster mgmt.

The O is ok.

The D is fuked!

That is Miami’s problem.

We have 9 sacks, 3 INTs and 0 fumble recoveries in 8 games. Campbell, Seiler and Ogbah lead the team with 2 sacks each. Dexter Lawrence has the same amount of sacks as our entire team.

It was easy to put all the blame on our offense when Tua was out, but our defense is not good. I was hoping to see a lot more out of Weaver by now. Our lack of run discipline is disappointing for a guy who comes from the Ravens.

The defense is awful. Torched by Mason Rudolph and would have given up a ton more points if Flacco and Drake Maye played in their games. I've seen nothing about them to think this team is going anywhere. Moving forward the Dolphins would have to win every game in shootouts and we have no WR3, good luck with that.

We have moved the ball offensively, but this team continues to shoot itself in the foot at crunch time when it comes to scoring

The collapse of the defense against the Cardinals was stunning. We could not pressure the QB, we couldn't tackle and our best player Ramsey didn't play very well

The Dolphins is the only team in the NFL to score fewer than 100 pts. through 7 games ... that's about 14 ppg ... last season the team was scoring around 28 ppg.

I put this mostly on Tua's injury and him missing games. T.O.P. is about middle of the pack and ahead of last year by a couple minutes but last season, early on, they were scoring quickly.

Besides the injury to Tua, the D hasn't come together under the new DC.
A couple of key players are missing due to injury but the basics of tackling and coverage from the LB position are missing ... and to me that's a problem.

I expected the D to be a more solid unit by game 4 and now after game 7 the mistakes are still present.
The return? of Chubb should be helpful but for all intents and purposes ... this season be done IMO.

Lost to some bad teams. Who cares what the stats say?

We have a -60 point differential. As it stands we are the only offense to not break 100 points yet on the season. We have 97 points on the season while the lowly Panthers have 124. Even with all our weapons it truly means nothing without a decent QB.
I think this is a really good point

However, I will add, I have found it frustrating that McD, who clearly knows how to draw up plays, has not demonstrated any ability to get our best playmakers (Hill / Waddle) involved during Tua's absence. Their lack of production has been significant and surprising

The numbers tell you one thing and one thing only! We are a bad team collectively!! Top to bottom!!

We are clearly the epidomy of mediocrity again and again. We just dont have the coaching O/D/ST we need to finish games, we have talent but without coaches being able to change things on the fly we are 2-5 and soon most likely 4-13. SAD!

On another note just to prove a point of being able to change things in game: Shanahan 49ers Dallas game Dallas lined up 6 on the line to make sure they stopped the run, Shanahan within two plays recognized this and basically called play action everytime they lined up this way! Basic answer to that Scheme! We dont seem to be able to adapt that quickly on O/D/ST IMO.

This team isn't as bad as everyone thinks on this board. Pretty simple. Starting QB hasn't played played in 4 games. 2-3 games the starting QB has played were basically the first games of the season (Last week was the first game Tua has played in 6 weeks). Probably rusty. Also, last week we were missing 4 of our best five players on defense (cluster injuries on defense). It is what it is at this point.

Its a shame we had injuries during the easy part of our schedule. If we had the easy part coming up, we could make a run. We are too far behind the 8 ball now IMO. Best we can hope for is that Tua plays really well down the stretch and stays injury free.

I think our stats can be misleading because our biggest issue is not playing sound football. When you are constantly making mistakes, it overrides stats.

My favorite drive is where we had a holding, an illegal hands to the face, and an offsides (on offense!). You may get yards on a drive like that, but you ain’t scoring.

When we are in the redzone, I wish we would throw that fade to Tyreek more. 😉
