The All-Star Game is a joke regardless of how the MVP is selected.
They need to get someone to sponsor the entire weekend, and then have the sponsor cough up $500,000 dollars to each player on the winning team. That'll make the game interesting to watch.

I agree. Had Ray Allen not went crazy like that, there would have been an MVP from the West.
Just reminds me when Lebron James won the "Best Player of the Year in the NBA" award or something like that at the ESPY's.
Tim Duncan should have won that with ease if it wasn't a popularity contest.
Lebron James got so much media hype in the offseason for a free pass on a very weak Eastern Conference playoffs.
I don't even think Butler nor Arenas was playing for the Cavs vs Wiz match up due to injury. Correct me if I'm wrong. And everyone beats the Nets.

skip bayless made a good point on first take. said the mvp is determined minutes before the game, so that they're ready to present the trophy when the game ends. makes sense that they'd give it lebron, and not allen, if that was the case.
