How many young household names do we have on this team? Wanny was hear 5 years, and out of those 5 years, how many great players has he signed or drafted? NONE. Thats horrible for a 5 year stretch. Chris Chambers, and Randy Mcmicheal and Vernon Carey are the only players worth mentionig and neither of them are really stand outs and Chambers and McMicheal have been underachieving so far. I think it will take saban a few years to get better players in here. He's done a good job so far with his draft choices,

Ronnie
Daniels
Crowder
Jason Allen
Roth
Vickerson
Alabi
Fred Evans
Rod Wright
The tight end converted to tackle i think his name is Berger

I think will all contribute significantly next year. And with another decent draft this year Addressing the oline, libacking corps and secondary I think we will be in good shape in about 2-3 years. Wanny really left the pantry dry with good old players and no young talented players that we are a lot further from turning this thing around than even the experts thought. Also bringing in new coordinators last year set us back as well because it takes time to teach a system, especially one as complicated as this one and we're playing teams that have had their system for a while and is more familier with it than we are with ours. Not trying to make excuses but these are just the facts. We will get better in a few years.

good points,i have been arguing the same things in the jungle all day,boomer wrote anexceptional article on this ,,i wish he would post it in this forum

Thats 9 draft choices who have made the team in the last 2 years. 2 more years of this, and they will be higher choices, and things are looking up. We will also be able to jettison a lot of our older, high-cap # players. So if the process runs its course the team will be younger and stocked mostly from the draft which is what NS has preached from day 1.

I'd like a link to that article. Could you post one? No question Saban needs more than a year and a half of play before being fairly evaluated. I think the first two drafts already have more promise than Taylor Whitley and Jamar Fletcher ever did...

right and if we can get some quality vets through free agency then we will be cooking with grease

3 starters and 6 backups. Great.
Is Alabi as good as Taylor Whitley. Jason Allen has played less this year than Jamar Fletcher did as a rookie.

**********
Not quite as good as JJ's first 2 years, with 8 starters.
Wannstadt's first 2 years brought - 4 starters and 2 backups.
Todd Wade
Chris Chambers
Morlon Greenwood
Arturo Freeman
Deon Dyer(backup)
Travis Minor(backup)

The only reason those guys are backups is because of the veterans in front of them. The players in front of these guys expeciall on the d-line have been good in this league for a long time, and should have started. At this point though those vets aren't getting it done and I think we need to start seeing some of these young players. And what better way to develope young players then to have them learn from vets who were played at a high level in this leauge.

Jamar Fletcher played because our coaches were either too stubborn or too dumb to realize that the guy could not play. Saban realizes that Allen is not ready yet and is smart enough to let the guy sit and learn as oppposed to throwing him in there because we picked him high in the draft and having him get beat and losing his confidence.

Ronnie --> good to very good
Daniels --> avg, injured
Crowder --> avg, w/ some upside
Jason Allen --> no contribution
Roth --> minimal contribution
Vickerson --> no contribution
Alabi --> no contribution
Fred Evans --> no contribution
Rod Wright --> no contribution, injured
Joe Toledo --> no contribution, injured

The jury is still out, but that's a lot of players on the team from his drafts that are not contributing. "Good job" - I don't think so. Maybe next year, we release a bunch of veterans on the DL and start Roth, Vickerson, Wright, Taylor, and Saban looks good. If not, ...

But they are on the team with potential to contribute in the near future. We can't say the same for wanny's pics over his 5 year tenure

"Shawn Draper, Ernest Grant, Ben Kelly, Jeff Harris" made the team... with potential to contribute.... and they never did contribute.

I was hoping all of these guys would contribute - This year. I see the same potential you do.... except for Alabi. Vickerson looks like a backup as well.
********
Crowder is trailing Urlacher by one tackle... and has 3 more tackles than Ray Lewis.
********
Don't mind me. I'm pissed at the Green Bay loss. And the lousy record / regression from last year. Something seems broken... when our only win comes against the worst team in the league... because a holding penalty negated their touchdown.

I'm waiting for a plan to "fix the broken dolphins"... and I'm not hearing it from Saban. Going from "the best team to miss the playoffs" to "the worst team in the league"... with the same players, doesn't make much sense. Either the players are worse this year, or the coaching is worse. Saban seems to be blaming the players, "without pointing fingers". I'm choosing Mularkey (and Saban for hiring him).
