Get a Grip
Regardless of what was reported, who said what,....blah blah blah, the fact remains that JT is the only Dolphin player not at the OTA's, and up coming camps. He is completely in the wrong here, no if ands or buts. We are coming off of a 1-15 season and trying to completely change the environment. The face of our franchise not being here, infact the only one not here is complete selfish BS! He said "He loves this place" , but everything he has done screams me, me ,me! I am not a JT basher, and I appreciate evrything he has done in the past. In this instance, he is totally in the wrong, and leaving the team and us fans hanging!
Get a grip, Dude.
He's missed OTA's before in his career and no one called him "in the wrong" when he did that.
He had a conversation with Mueller after the season saying that if it was in the best interest of the team, then he would open to a trade. Then in December he signs up for DANCING WITH THE STARS and informs Mueller. 13 days later Parcells is hired and 2 weeks after, Cameron and Mueller are gone.
Jason Taylor is COMMITTED to doing Dancing With The Stars, he's signed a contract and given his word. He's told by the team that Mueller briefed Parcells on his desires and he doesn't worry about it and continues to prepare for a competition he's never done before.
Then the talking starts and if you recall, it started with Parcells speaking with Peter King and him saying "Jason Taylor will either play for the Miami Dolphins or retire". At that point, Jason had never said anything about retirement in 2008. Yes, he briefly considered it in 2006-2007 but he was committed to one more year from the end of last season.
Parcells puts out the retirement talk and with that, kills the real interest from teams about trading for JT. He could have said to Peter King "Jason Taylor wants to play for 3 or 4 more years and it is our intention that he finish his career as a Miami Dolphin" and then watch out, the trade offers would have come fast and furious.
But Parcells KILLED JT's trade value HIMSELF. Either via incompetence or malice, but either way, the facts are undeniable.
So Jason holds a press conference and explains where he's at. Basically, if the Dolphins can't get value and trade him that he will be indeed a Miami Dolphin. Now the important thing to see here is how PARCELLS treats Taylor once July comes around. Because he may instruct SPARANO to disrespect Taylor by assiging him to the third squad, etc in order to entice Taylor to retire and call it a career.
Why?
Because Parcells is a giant, tub of lard teenager, that's why. There has NEVER been a pettier man than Bill Parcells in the history of sports. He's a little boy and he NEEDS to get his way.
If the Dolphins were smart, they'd deal JT to DALLAS and allow Zach and JT to reunite for one final push for the ring TOGETHER. It would be a great story and it would actually generate good feelings for the Dolphin front office, who up to now have been seen as myopic and small minded in their dealings with Taylor.
But, I think that no trade will happen and that Parcells will try and make an example out of Taylor by squeezing him in camp.
Then JT will decide what to do.
But don't blame a great player who's been here for 11 years giving his heart and soul for the team for wanting to go out a winner. Blame a front office that's been here 15 minutes and decided that DISRESPECTING team leaders is the BEST way to SHAKE UP a losing organization. They are trying to send a message and unfortunately, the message we're getting is NOT the one they intended.
For while they are saying THINGS HAVE CHANGED, IT'S OUR WAY OR THE HIGHWAY we are clearly receiving WE HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO DO OUR JOBS.
And THAT'S the truth.
GO PHINS!!
