...This is from Czarnecki...thoughts...I hope this isn't true.

Robert--

Here's what I know without breaking confidences. It is straight from his mouth, but obviously not said directly to me. I really can't explain why though because financially (no state tax) Miami isn't a bad place and a lot of young people seem to like the town. I do know and will write today that Tom Condon checked with the Rams and asked for a guarantee that Jake would be selected by them with the second overall pick and they said no. When that happened, Jake finally decided to accept the deal from Miami, knowing he wasn't the Rams' first choice and probably would slide past atlanta and oakland as well....I do think the Chiefs would have taken him. Chris Long was made the same offer as Jake just in case Jake didn't accept it. Condon was pissed at me, but that's life. I don't blame the kid for not telling the truth becuz I don't really know all of his intentions. I do think he wanted to be in the midwest, though, and would have preferred rams or chiefs, but when the rams shot him down, Condon convinced him of the money in Miami. I think some of the young players aren't convinced about Bill's choice of head coach and his aura doesn't carry the same weight with these young men as it did 20 years ago...

Mind you...I love Jake Long as a player, but I'm not happy if he doesn't want to be here.

BULL. TOTAL BULL.

Especially this part:

I think some of the young players aren't convinced about Bill's choice of head coach and his aura doesn't carry the same weight with these young men as it did 20 years ago...

Are you kidding me? Here guys, a Bill Parcells-run team, or Bill Devanney and Scott Linehan? Or how about Thomas Dimitroff? GIVE ME A BREAK.

Never read a bigger piece of bull**** in my life

uhhh??

A guy just got $30 mill guarnteed. He would play in any city for that kind of money!!!!

And who the hell is Jake Long to start evaluating NFL head coaches???

I don't believe one word of this

Again, I hate it too...but Czarnecki swears by it...and it bothers me a bit. I want guys that want to be here.

I would play on Antartica if they gave me that money.

it doesn't bother me becuase I don't believe it for a minute

I remember hearing in Jakes press conference, that he had nothing to do with the negotiations he just let his agent and the Dolphins do everything. And I gotta tell ya, Jake doesn't look like a real unhappy guy. I'd say you couldn't wipe the smile off his face with a giant Redwood. I think this is just chatter without substances.

Poor guy deceided too take the lesser and Miami Southbeach with 30 mil. Guess you can't have everything. St Louis, now theres a town.

Doesn't really bother me. At the end of the day, he decided to play for Miami and give at least the next five years of his playing career to the Dolphins. If he really had some doubts about the front office here, Miami has 5 years to prove him wrong.

This is not an Eli Manning not wanting to play for the Chargers situation. Jake Long wasn't going public saying there was no way he would play here and asking not to be drafted.

I don't really care if Long really had these feelings or if Czar is just trying to create a story. Jake Long is a happy rich man today, and is part of the Miami Dolphins organization. At the end of the day, that is all that matters.

What's the big deal? He wants to live in the Midwest, for whatever reason. Let's face it folks, to put it very modestly, Miami is not for everyone. So the kid figured he would give up being #1 if he could be #2 and get the same $. But when being a top 5 pick was going to be possibly trashed and the incredible $ that comes with it he chose to be the # 1 and the Money.

What he thinks about Parcels and what he thinks others think about Parcels is completely immaterial. If he thinks that players on this team are gonna get away with ANYTHING less then living out being deeply respectful to this coaching staff he and others will VERY quickly be put on the learning curve!

Look everybody Jake Long is on the learning curve!

This kid better put some beef on his 6'7" frame and get up to 340 and start working harder then he ever imagined or he too will be just another Tony Manderich. I do not wish it for him or for us but this is the COLD HARD - 30 million dollar truth. Your getting paid enough to feed half the people of a small nation for a year so get out on the playing field and perform, thats all!

well you have to figure that its too late now for this to matter. Hes signed and delivered so i'm sure hes got all the motivation he needs to perform, regardless of if miami wasnt his top choice in location.
