DOB: Get my Ring!
...This is from Czarnecki...thoughts...I hope this isn't true.
Robert--
Here's what I know without breaking confidences. It is straight from his mouth, but obviously not said directly to me. I really can't explain why though because financially (no state tax) Miami isn't a bad place and a lot of young people seem to like the town. I do know and will write today that Tom Condon checked with the Rams and asked for a guarantee that Jake would be selected by them with the second overall pick and they said no. When that happened, Jake finally decided to accept the deal from Miami, knowing he wasn't the Rams' first choice and probably would slide past atlanta and oakland as well....I do think the Chiefs would have taken him. Chris Long was made the same offer as Jake just in case Jake didn't accept it. Condon was pissed at me, but that's life. I don't blame the kid for not telling the truth becuz I don't really know all of his intentions. I do think he wanted to be in the midwest, though, and would have preferred rams or chiefs, but when the rams shot him down, Condon convinced him of the money in Miami. I think some of the young players aren't convinced about Bill's choice of head coach and his aura doesn't carry the same weight with these young men as it did 20 years ago...
