Currently, there is nobody out there, NOBODY, that REALLY REALLY wants the Miami job. Absolutely nobody.
Nobody has flat out said, "I want this job", like Petrino did for the Falcons [saying that it's the best job in the NFL] and Whisenhunt did for Arizona [saying that the talent on the team has great potential and he is highly interested] and with Pittsburgh, saying he loves working with Roethlisberger. Nobody has put up a great interview for this job, nobody is really fighting for it.
And that's why it sucks. That's why some of us are mad about the candidates. We don't have a real winner to take the job, just decent candidates, but you don't know if you're going to get a long term solution from these guys, you just don't know what they have to bring in the table long term.
And that's what this coaching search is about. To get a long term solution, to find a true successor of Don Shula. Could it be Jim Mora Jr.? Chan Gailey? Mike Shula? I'm not sure, nobody here should be. These are decent coaches, but nothing about them really jump out. They certaintly can't be the best candidates for the job, I think we can do much better than this.
If we have to wait another week to see who gets eliminated from the playoffs and search for new candidates to interview from those teams, or wait a month for the Super Bowl to be done with, and search for candidates from those teams, then so be it.
I just don't want to rush this process and pick up some leftover.
