My calculations tell me this team needs 12+ new starters due to age and/or poor performance. Obviously, given the fact there are only 22 starters on offense/defense combined, it’s blatantly obvious this team is a LONG WAY from a championship composition. We can only hope that part of these needs can be filled from the current roster via the anticipated development of young players (i.e., Evans, Alabi, Toledo, Hagan, Vickerson, Wright, etc.). However, this team needs 2 or 3 HIGHLY PRODUCTIVE drafts in a row, with a handful of IMPACT players, to offset the current severe talent anemia.

Also, we have to hope and pray that among the trio of Culpepper, Harrington, and Lemon, we have a viable (efficient) starting QB. At this point hoping for a “franchise QB†among this group is unrealistic. If we want a franchise QB we’ll need to move Culpepper and Harrington for whatever draft ammo we can get and play “spin the draft wheel†and hope [Quinn or whoever] is “the man.â€Â

Either way, based on the state of the current roster, I believe Saban has UNDERPERFORMED as the teams GM. At this point there’s nothing we can do but hope that Saban either ramps up his personnel performance in high gear, or we get a TOP SHELF GM who has the “architectural expertise†to build a championship roster. I for one vote for scaling back Saban’s control of this team and go after a GM as our first top priority!

Wayne, are you listening?

We Have A GM

Perhaps you haven't noticed but we already have a capable GM. RM has shown himself to be a good judge of talent.

Hopefully a couple of the younger DTs we have that went through surgery (1st round talent, 7th round pick) or others can step in on the Dline. It'd be nice to get Freeney in the offseason (wow, him and JT.? lol..wonder what that'd cost) and pick up a few more players for the Oline, 2ndary, WR and LB spots through the draft and FA (since we should be about 20mill or so under).

So...DT's maybe we already have 2 that will be good enough to start.
S or CB .. recent 1st rounder Allen
WR...Hagan to take Booker's spot

...others...?

Not with us he hasn't. I'm not impressed with most of the people that he and Saban had chose to pick up this off-season.Sedrick Hodge? That was one is his 2nd round picks that he picked in NO, you think the Saints are missing him? Bennie Anderson the penalty machine, you think Buffalo is missing him? Deke Cooper and Fred Beasley aren't even on the team anymore. Who has he picked up this off-season besides Will Allen that has really contributed anything to the team? He may have done some things with NO but he's done pretty much nothing with us so far. I'm not saying that he's not going to bring some talent here but as of now he has not showed anything here.

I agree, and it's OBVIOUS we've made some serious misjudgments on this roster! That's really already IN THE PAST for cries sakes. All we can do NOW is move forward and correct our mistakes, NOT compound them.

There are much less talented teams performing at much higher levels. We do have deficiencies but there is no excuse for being 1-6. The Jets do not have loads of talent buit at least they are competing. are you going to tell me that New Orleans and Minnesota are that much talented than us overall. We are probably middle of the road talentwise so lets not make more excuses for us doing so poorly. We are not performing and not being coached well.

We already have a pretty good team. We have the potential to be a really good team next year if we can upgrade the o-line and the secondary. Wewill also be improved with a helthier more mobile D.C. and Ricky Williams back.

Your standards are embarrassingly low. LOL We have a pretty good team

Its been reported that Mueller and Saban dont see eye to eye and there is some type of power struggle going on. One of them wont be here in two years

Oh wow really?? I thought they both were doing good, Randy was doing good with our salary cap. I hope they work it out.

I've seen that but where is that info coming from? RM doesn't do interviews. Saban doesn't talk negative about anybody. I think that is the media trying to stir things up because nobody is allowed to talk with them. Seriously - where would it be coming from? If Mueller had final say that would make me wonder but his job is simply to get the type of players Saban wants. I'm sure he suggests and Nick says yes or no. Why would that bother Mueller if it was up to Saban what type of player HE wants. If Randy liked someone and Saban said no why would that bother him. It's Saban's system and his decision. I don't believe that rumor. I also think that unless they turn this around neither will be here in 2 years.

In football it's all about the O-line, if we improved that we would have a very good team with Ronnie Brown And Ricky Williams Running, and our recieving crew. You can not move the ball on offence without a good o-line.
