I would like to say, GREAT DRAFT TO PARCELLS AND THE CREW.

Did a great job with the draft and helped us out in alot of key areas where we needed improvement.

Ok, lets start with the arguement about how our secondary sucks, and we didn't pick up any secondary players at all. This is true, we did not pick up any secondary players, but i wouldn't say they sucked. You can't place our defensive woes on the secondary. Last season, we were the WORSE team in the League at stopping the run.

So its obvious we need the frontline help more then the secondary(the frontline help will acually help our secondary anyways, so its a win-win).
With an improved Frontline, comes an improved secondary. The dolphins ABSOLUTLY SUCKED at bringing the pressure to the QB last season. Qbs had so much time in the pocket to make throws/take time making good throws.

It is impossible for your secondary to keep recievers covered when your opposing teams offense has all day to throw.

We got much bigger/stronger on the Line, which will help against the run.

So with the D Line improvement, you can expect

1. Better stoppage against the run
2. Better pressure on the QB
3.Less time that our defense will spend on the field.

Now lets get to the offensive line, So much more improved this offseason. We got bigger/stronger/more talented and got our franchise LT for the future.

GAMES ARE WON AND LOST IN THE TRENCHES.

Our O-Line has been SO HORRID the passed few years, that its not even funny to talk about it.

A better O-line gives us better pass/run protection.

It also gives our QB's more time in the pocket, and doesn't have to force bad throws, or take sacks.

Our offense was SO HORRIBLE last season, getting WR's is not going to fix that...LINEMEN will.

The more time our Offense is on the Field, the Less time our Defense has to be on the Field.

YOU CANT FIX AN ENTIRE TEAM WITH 1 DRAFT. We had some BIG holes on the Offensive and Defensive Line...Mr. Parcells went out and focused on that during the draft. (Remember...we can always improve the secondary next season...we won't be a playoff team in one season)

If you have a problem with a position, u can't just draft 1 player and say...ok we addressed that need, lets go on to somthing else now...YOU JUST CANT DO THAT! You cant just tell the future, and assume that 3rdround draft pick will pan out, or that number 5 will fix the need...or "hey, lets draft a CB with our #6 that will IMPROVE OUR 2NDARY!!!"

Do you really think that? We are better off just bringing in guys to training camp who went undrafted, then to worry about drafting our future WR/CBs with our 6th round draft picks.

In Conclusion, GREAT draft, Parcells used our high picks, on players who will fit his system, and on players who play positions where we have HOLES at.

GAMES ARE WON IN THE TRENCHES!!!

I hope most of this makes sense, and sorry for any misspells. Just ranting here.

Well we sure have enough players on the O and D line now.

Not sure of all of their skill level(s).

Time to sort them out.

Hopefully we can assess our secondary and WR's this year (shouldent be fun to watch....) and make some decisions in those areas in next years draft.

I couldn't agree more! Great Post. Next year we will be in position to fill holes in our skill position players. I said in another post this draft class was perfect for us - heavy in quality players for the trenches, not so many great "skill" guys.:hi5:

We could have picked all offensive linemen and I would have been happy.

I agree,Parcells made some smart decisions and I hope this will mean a turnaround for the Fins terrible 0-line...plus it's nice to see underappreciated guys like an OT go first in the draft and they didn't get rid of Jason, which makes me very happy. The only question I have is Henne and what this means to Beck. All in all a worthy draft and I look forward to seeing these guys play in the fall.

I agree, but only to an extent. Just because you can't fix any need area in one draft, doesn't mean you can't at least attempt to do so. And yes, I understand the concept of how applying pressure to the QB camouflages deficiencies in the secondary. But that's all it does is camouflage. It's impossible to always apply pressure. At some point you have to have guys who are skilled enough (and with a high football IQ) to cover somebody. That's my rant, and I'm stepping off my soapbox now.

3 OL and 3 DL . . . 2 smash mouth RB's . . . traded a 4th for a blocking TE and a LB . . . and drafted a QB . . . . that is a Parcells draft if I EVER seen one

It works both ways,

A GOOD Defensive line, can Camouflage a BAD secondary to make it look good

But

A Bad Defensive Line, Can Camouflage a GOOD secondary to make it look bad

Honestly, i think we have an average Secondary, obviously could use some improvement, but our D-Line was the bigger weakness...Even if we improved the Secondary, we still would suck defensively cuz our front 7 cant do **** to stop the run, or apply pressure to the QB

GAMES ARE WON IN THE TRENCHES!!!

But they aren't won with gimp kneed running backs like Ronnie Brown as your primary back. I guess we learned nothing from our Dante Culpepper experience. We just passed on Bo Jackson (Darren McFadden) so we could draft Tony Mandrich (Jake Long). I think this is a draft we will regret for years to come while we watch D Mac post Adrian Peterson numbers while Long turn out to be an average OL. Stupid draft if you ask me! You never pass on a chance to add those special skill players to your team. I already hate Parcells for this.

So true, but Im waiting for the irrational name seekers to enter.

Should be any minute now.

I personally loved the draft and thought it was vintage Parcells. Ask a Dallas fan, and they will tell you that this is how he does it.

Vernon Carey gets to get locked up into a long term deal stack. After that, we are probably a year away from having a dominating offensive line. We have 4/5 of the position locked up and just have to develop one of the guards into a starter.

The D-line got much better against the run. We still have Jason Taylor ( hopefully for 3 years) and don't forget that Joey Porter will be fired up to produce.

Didnt Bill draft Ratliff in the 7th out of Auburn? Hmm ... Dotson in the 7th.

Similar.
