thomas to be back by TC? team still going big? read

Ireland didnt sound that enthusiastic about it.

I also have to wonder, if he does get back in time for TC, how long until he gets hurt again?

One more injury and I'm gonna write Thomas off for good. :(

same here dude. hes already injury prone.

This last injury was in the weightroom...Its unfortunate the man was trying to lift too much weight to be that starting RG we needed it was a fluke injury...I'd be more worried if he was hurt in drills doing football movements...I think he'll be OK. Guys have come back from far worse. It's not like he re-injured his leg.

you do realize an injury is an injury? a fluke injury to me is just as injury prone as one being during practice or game. end of hte day its an injury. For example, Smileys injury was a random freak injury that happens like ACL tears.
someone fell on it. lifting weights and getting injured...lloll cmon.

I have to wonder why he was lifting heavy weights when he was coming off a leg injury to begin with?

I tore my Pec last April (acually it was a pulled tendon not even a tear which is worse). Haven't been the same since...(just to brag a little 355 for 6 on the 5th rep I could hear my pec muscle rip sounded like tearing a t-shirt)..NOW I'm 33 and I'm way out of the NFL but a Pec tear will keep you out of training for more then a few months.

I agree with SR 7 on this one.

An injury during a drill or game can be much more easily chalked up to being random or a freak occurance.

The weight room is a controlled environment. Even moreso if it was at the team facility. They have trainers and or spotters available and monitoring the workouts.

Tearing a muscle while working out, due either to performing the exercise incorrectly or trying to push too hard is less easily forgivable.

Injuries that occur when bodies are flying around the field are unavoidable risks. Thomas' latest injury was avoidable.

Either way, he is missing WAY too much practice time (Between last year and this year), maybe "write-off" wasnt the exact term to use, because he could very well come back and play well the rest of his career.

My usage of "write-off" was more that *I* will not count on him to be a contributor on the team, at least until he proves otherwise.

Too many of us have relied on how he played in TC and preseason last year and expected him to contribute this year, even though his injuries have kept him from knowing how good (or bad) he really is.

Making excuses for an injured veteran is one thing (and it has burned us in the past, ie Daunte Culpepper, Trent Green.), making excuses for an injured rookie (2nd year, but played 1 game last year.) is something else entirely. I for one am not going to become a Donald Thomas apologist, I'm sorry but the guy has yet to prove a damn thing on the football field.

Injury's happen its part of the game. Guys get hurt then you put the next guy in and deal with it.

A fluke injury would be driving on I-95 and getting side-swiped which results in some kind of injury.

Tearing a pec while weight lifting is not a fluke injury.

Suffering a lisfranc injury while playing football is not a fluke injury.

The guy is bordering on Joe Toledo status and has a LOT to prove.

To WRITE THE GUY OFF when he's entering his second year is pretty extreme.

Get used to it. There are plenty of people on this site who are short sighted.
If left up to them we wouldn't have much of a team left. Half the team would be cut already :D

As far as I know he wasn't injury prone in college and he went through a tough TC last season without problems.
