The draft is rarely what you think it will be.
Came in thinking we'd go Barron who would add some playmaking and versatility to the secondary and defense but get why they went Grant, whose clean health profile and run stuffing made him a better choice than Nolen. or Harmon.
I think his upside and motor make him a potential version of Vince Wilfork.

Like the Jonah Savaiinaea pick more than Grant and applaud the FO for going up and getting him bc he wasn't going to last until 48. Was a big Ratledge fan but think Jonah S gives you a little more size and nastiness and versatility as Ratledge was pretty much RG only at Georgia. It was supposed to be a deep OL class but there weren't many guards available I thought could start right away at a guard spot but Jonah should be able to do that

The price to move up to the top of the round wasn't too steep when you consider we got a 5th back.
Lotta guys I liked for the Dolphins like Mukuba, Charles Grant, Xavier Watt and Jonas Sanker went in that gap between 48 and 98 so I don't feel bad about losing the top 100 comp pick.

Little worried about the corner spot. Couple guys left but when Grier said on Thursday night that there's plenty of corners still left, I doubted him then and more after tonight's rounds. He's been decent about finding UDFA corners but not so hot in the early and middle rounds. I think one of those top 30 visits from Cbs has to be one of our next two picks.

Agree with K Crabbs that this isn't a gold jacket draft, it's a starter draft and as he said, we have the chance well into round 4 to upgrade our OL, DL and secondary with better talent. So far, 2 for 2 and we're one more OL, imo, from being able to excise two of the worst players in recent Dolphin history from the roster so go get Miles Frazier or Fairchild or that Harvard transfer to Iowa State, Travis.

Starting to think the next good safety we bring in won't be from this draft but in free agency. It was unrealistic to think we'd lock down this G, DT, CB and S holes from this draft and my dream for a complete TE or a drafted short yardage back will have to wait until next year unless we get lucky with UDFAs.
Still have a chance to bring in more OL talent, a decent corner and 2 more DTs like CJ West or Jordan Phillips.

Think the whole division did really well esp the Pats and the days of Belichick wasting picks is over. Jets grabbed at least 2 starters and the Bills, after a bad pick in round 1, rebounded with some good players. We got bigger and better in the trenches which was much needed but I'm thinking the Pats and maybe the Jets will have 2-3 more players from this class making big contributions than we will have.

I think the Jets and Pats are already benefiting from a new set of talent evaluators and as much as I love Grier, if he had not left this roster barren at so many levels, we would have had a different draft that including adding BPAs rather than good players that we had to draft because we didn't have enough decent starters at those spots.

Very well thought out. Thank you! Great to see posts with logic and sensibility! We are on the right track!

We added two tough guys who will start, and I think will help us in the trenches.

My thoughts going into round 3. Ross is drooling in his oatmeal over the thought of drafting Sanders in the 4th.

He needs to get picked before we are on the clock. We dont need that headache.

Interesting....I'm not a Sanders guy but at this pt I think he's worth the risk I'd pull the trigger at this pt

Happy with what we got

U happy. That Ramsey is still here

Lots of good prospects left

If we can get our Gand on Dorian strong and drone Walker I will do backflips

My thoughts for what it's worth...

No more asking "Where's the beef?"

At first I thought they gave too much to move up in round two, but bottom line is, that if Savaiinaea is what he was in college, we got a bully on the offensive line. He and Jackson will move mountains. Grant is a mountain of a man. He will chew up blocks and allow the Lb's to roam. Both of these young men have freakish athletic ability for their size. They needed to beef up the LOS and they sure did that.

Love, like, or hat Grier, he listened to the narrative. They said they would address the line and they have. I would like to see another Vet swing player, but I really like the starting 5. Proof will be in the pudding, but they have addressed the soft narrative. Now McDaniel has to get out of his own way and pick up short yardage with the basics.

Going forward. I would love to see another DL drafted and another OL developmental player drafted later in the draft. I know I'm a homer, but would love to see Joshua Farmer there with the next pick. He can play DE in the 3/4 set, and DT in the nickel. I think Seiler, Grant, and Farmer would be a sick defensive line.

I am concerned about the CB's, but this may be wishful thinking, but what if they convince Ramsey to stay? I was listening to Omar the other day and he was talking about a day at practice last season when Ramsey was pi$$ed and speaking out with other teammates about the team and staff being soft. Might be a pipe dream, but what if...

Bottom line for Ramsey...I would be shocked if they traded him prior to June 1. If they do it will be a $25m dead cap hit, and an additional $8.2m hit against the cap. If they wait till after June 1, they can prorate the dead cap hit over a couple years. However, it would save them $9.5m to the cap.

They will be active in street free agents, and it looks like it will have to be at CB. I want to see, what today holds, but it sure looks like they are finally tired of being pushed around by the bullies.

Ill say this, this draft embarrassment is definitely something that should shrink his ego, if he wasnt humbled, he woulda busted for sure. This might be the thing that saves his career and makes him work hard as hell to prove the doubters wrong.

Or it just turns him into Jackson Mahomes and he becomes a full time tic-toker šŸ˜†

As I was taking a deep dive on Jonah I realized how great Mcmillian is gonna be, what a player

The funny thing is (well not funny), but we see this all the time in youth sports. This is "daddy ball" on a much higher level. My kids are active in baseball. There is so much daddy ball it's crazy, and it's worse in other sports. Prime has coached his kid, and given him privileges. Ultimately this has hurt him. As a coach I am the complete opposite of daddy ball. I have probably held my oldest back a little because instead of keeping him at 1-2 positions, he's my Swiss Army knife. He can play all 9 positions and has over the years. Heck, I have thrown him out of my dugout before...LOL

Daddy ball ruins youth sports, and we are just seeing it at a higher level now, but it's seeing a harsh reality.
