Just read an article where LT says he's "95% retired" which I'm pretty sure means nobody is breaking down his door to sign him. What ever happened to the days of going out on top? Someone of his caliber should have left the game before the game left him.

It's what it is. Running backs get worn and broken down. Last HB I remember leaving on top of his game was Barry Sanders.

One of the last great Dolphins games I went to was the 2009 (i think?) Chargers game at SunLife(?) where we beat them soundly. I got lower bowl home side 50 yard-line seats only 3 or 4 rows up. Premier seats for only like 80 bucks. Whoever put them on stubhub thought we were going to lose LOL. next week they were $150, $160 LMAO
Anyways, we had a goal line stand, we dominated LT. That stadium was electric. Ronnie Brown imitated LT's stupid victory pose. It was AWESOME.

In my opinion, LT has been overrated for quite some time now.

It is crazy how much the shelf life of running backs has gone down over the last 10-15 years. Running backs seem to get old over night. I mean LT is a perfect example. It doesn't seem too long ago when there was talk of him seriously challenging Emmitt's rushing record. Then bam, he started having health issues out of the blue.

I think a lot of it has to do is you now have LBs who are 260-270 running 4.5's and 300 pound linemen running in the 4's. The game is now full of bigger, stronger, faster athletes and you now have a 210 pound back running 4.3, coliding with a LB who is 270 running 4.5 head on and a 300 pound linemen running 4.8 hitting him from the side 20 plus times a game! OUCH!

I think it is why you have running back by committee now and unless you have a freak like AP or Trent Richardson, running backs aren't selected high in the draft anymore.

Also seasons are longer.

I think there are two key factors:

1) is exactly what Stang says, the decline is much greater due to the size and speed of the game and
2) replacing a RB is far easier than it was 10 or 15 years ago, seems like the "plug a back in" system works all the time now.

Ronnie Brown is a good example. Drafted #2 and now 30 after playing 6 years for us and one for Philly is pretty much done.
Is that good return for a #2 pick ?

Playing for the Jets will ruin the best of players. The smell alone would make anyone sick. Imagine coming from beautiful San Diego to the pig farm called New Jersey. And who else calls it home? The biggest fat piece of crap that has ever walked the earth. Bill (the pig) Parcells.

Should have retired after Chargers released him, give it up LT2

Can you imagine the last team you ever play for is the Jets? Yuck.
That's got to be a horrible feeling....

Probably the reason Jason came back last year. Had to get the "green slime" off before retirement.

No, it's not. Which is why he was a horrible pick. Par for the course for the Saban years-- some of the worst personnel moves of all time.
