I must be honest here and say i wouldn't mind seeing Groves picked in the 2nd round by us. My only question here about him..is where does he play ? I have heard about him being a linebacker in the pros. Well if that is true is he suited for the inside or outside position of a linebacker. I just wanted to ask. The way i see it is that we have crowder, torbor, taylor plays outside and if u draft groves then where does he play. Maybe im confused or thinking on it to much. Let me know what u think.

Groves has played DE and OLB but in our scheme he is an OLB or maybe even a situational DE.

Yes we already do have Taylor and Porter as our OLB's but it never hurts to bring in youth to a position, especially one where we have two aging veterans.

The biggest question mark with Groves right now is the fact that he had a procedure done on his heart for an irregular heart beat. That may scare some teams away. Groves has sent letters around to every NFL Team explaining what he had done and that it will not affect him.

I think the gap between Chris Long and Quentin Groves is the same size as the one between Jake Long and the Sam Bakers and Anthony Collins of the world.

Groves would be a dynamite pick . . . in the third or fourth. Everyone knows I advocate Cason and Lofton in the second, but here is the thing, I think I would rather have Phillip Wheeler over Quentin Groves.

FYI, as a Hog fan, I have seen a lot of Groves and I am just not that impressed.

:up:If we snag Jake Long and if Groves is avaiable withour 2 a pick I say we wil draft him.

quentin groves would play the weakside OLB spot in our defense. same place as JT. his heart condition isnt a problem. its only a problem if left untreated. pills usually help it but sometimes surgery is necessary which basically fixes the problem. there is something like a 3% chance an episode could happen after surgery. its not a big deal at all. i highly doubt he gets out of the first. ive got him between 17 and 29 right now.

dont be to shocked if cason is gone to arizona and lofton goes towards the end of the first. out of the two lofton is more likely to make it to the 2nd but would not last long.

I agree, there is a reason to believe that both may be gone, but reason enough to believe that we could snag both in the second. IF both of them are gone by 2a then I would be all for drafting Groves and then picking up Godfrey at 2b.

i would rather have groves and trade JT for a second and a third. then we can get
jake long
brandon flowers
groves
lofton
shem... (oq out of oregon st)
te
all in the first 3 rounds

After the surgery, he's supposed to be cured. Theres a good article about it at miamiherald.com by Armando Salguero. He has the same heart problems and explains it.
I'd love to get Groves at #32. He's a great fit at OLB in the 3-4. My guess is if we take him it'll be because JT will be getting traded the same day. If we really plan on keeping JT around, I think the pick will be used on one of the many other holes.

he had an off year last year, the year before that i was hoping for him to come out and we could pick him in the first LAST year. this year with his off year and heart procedure, i would wait until 2b to see if he was there. depending on who is left at 2a, i would definitely still give him a look a who

He had an off year because he was playing on dislocated toes (including his big toe) thats an injury most players don't play through. I would love to see him in a fins uniform, unfortunately I don't think we'll have the opportunity.

i love lofton and cason...i have been advocating for those two for a long time.. i really would love to lofton here..that guy is a tackling machine!

Groves is a wrecking ball with leverage, suddenness and athletic arrogance. You stick him at RE in passing situations and worry about the other 10 positions. He'll be making big plays in the backfield while others drafted ahead of him sit around.

Groves is a bad man at 2a, heart or not, but it all depends on 2 things.

#1 who we take #1
#2 he won't be there at 2a
