Im not sold on tua. I'm not saying he doesn't have the tools, I just don't think he would do much without the weapons he currently has especially behind a line like ours. What would you guys think of taking ol de then someone like hurts or love to compete with rosen? They can escape pressure better than tua. Tua just scares me with his post snap reads against good defenses. And let's be honest being behind his line life is pretty easy for him. And the times he has faced adversity he didn't look good. Just my two cents. I'm sure the bama fans a tua fans will kill me, but we have to be honest with ourselves. What do you guys think

I am not the biggest fan of Bama players as it pertains to the pros or left handed QB's for that matter but if we somehow pass on Tua for Hurts later on I'll lose my ****.

I remember watching AJ McCarron have a lot of success at Alabama, never once did I think he belonged on an NFL roster.

Tua has elite skills, the talented players around him just make it easier to evaluate those skills.

In a lot of ways, he's actually the new prototype for the position = different.

Trying to make this decision the first week of October is a failure.

And again, I'm not even a "Tua Guy". Right now I'm a "Rosen Guy".

If you have questions about Tua and think he "can't escape pressure" and he scares you with his "post snap reads against good defenses". Read this thread.

Well I'm an Ozzy fan but if we get the top pick in the draft then Tua needs to be the pick. Would it be nice to have a good O-line in place for a rookie QB? Of course but you take Tua and get him as much help as you can. You get two starting o-line guys in free agency and after you draft Tua then you start getting him some skill players. We have plenty of picks and money so there's no excuse to pass on him.

Hurts, are you Fing serious! Maybe we should bring Tannehill back! Hurts is garbage and would be a waste of a pick. Just ban yourself! I can’t believe anyone would want Hurts. ****ing garbage!

Tua has elite traits in terms of navigating the pocket and the talent to deal with pressure and finish the play.. Let’s call that elite play making skills..

Alongside the consistency and elite accuracy for which he operates from a pocket.

Alongside the speed of operations.

Like Slimm has said before, of course with a QB of this caliber the only way you are gonna get to him on those rare occasions is to disguise something in coverage, something he hasn’t seen, however, that defensive look that fooled him on those rare occasions only get one shot with this dude, he isn’t going to make the same mistakes over and over, not happening..

I don't recall Tua ever looking bad unless he was hurt and then he wasn't horrible.

But I haven't seen every game he's played.

I’m comfortable drafting Tua #1. I’m not busting a nut over it but it’s the correct move IMHO.

My comp for Tua's arm is Ken Stabler- very accurate, good on timing throws but not exactly overwhelming. If Tua came out 2 years ago I'd take him as the 4th QB at best behind Josh Allen, Mayfiled and Darnold. I have to say that last year the more I watched Darnold the more I was impressed. This year Murray or Tua- tough call, probably Murray. Tua is no doubt solid but I still think this tank for Tua, he's a generational QB talent stuff is way out of hand. This is no Andrew Luck situation imo, I don't see Tua as a slam dunk #1 overall dream prospect.

I would trade Tua and our other 2 1st round picks for Kyler Murray.

What is Tua great at Jim..

1) would it be fair to say yes to accuracy..

2) playmaking/escapability ? Yes for me

3) mechanics and fundamentals ?
Yes for me
4) Speed of operations? Yes for me

5) Timing and anticipation? Yes for me

That’s a lot of great no?

I'm not here to bash Tua, hell of a player. Also has crazy tools to work with at WR and they do help to make him look good- then again he helps them look good with his accuracy and timing. I look at him and see a really good QB prospect with kind of a a forced throwing motion and I wonder how he translates to the NFL. Just my opinion, I don't dislike him I'm just not a huge fan.

I think Alabama's WR's are overrated. They're good, but they're not as good as Tua makes them look. Some people think Jeudy is a better prospect than Tua, and it reminds me of people saying the same about Mike Williams and Deshaun Watson.

I feel like Tua processes things so fast and reacts to the process. Even on broken plays he processes his options and zips it in there.

Tua doesn't have all world arm strength, but he has some zip on the throws...that touch and ball placement. WR best friend.
